Rain! I love the rain... When it's raining I usually walk with my arms out in front of me so I can feel the water on my hands and arms, and I suppose I have a very peaceful, contented demeanor. I've been called "the messiah" due to this.

Prefer to dress up or dress casual?

Internet for news, although it's usually very specific stories. Not like I go on any news websites.

Prefer back-to-nature, or industrialization?

That certainly is an interesting idea!
You should do it, and see how it goes. And take pics of course

Yeah they are dried apples. That is rendered fat in the spoon. I put it in a cup and scoop it out with the jerky, kinda like chips and dip. I know rendered fat is not raw. But...

In my situation I can not get raw pasture raised fat. So Lex sent me some rendered fat. If I had freezer storage space he would send me some raw fat.

What do you think..

Raw Grainfed or Rendered Pasture Raised Fat?

I can get grainfed fat for free from the butcher.

Personally, I would rather eat the Rendered pasture raised fat over the grain fed raw fat.

Vitamin C is only found in certain glands like adrenals, not in muscle meat.

I used to eat a lot of portabella mushrooms every day over the summer in salads. I stopped because, like Tyler, I didn't feel they were being digested well. I believe they contributed to gas

I usually do stay away from veggies, except leafy greens, because of what the Wai diet says about them... but I don't know, I'm starting to think maybe they are beneficial. Or they can be.

I got a strange craving for broccoli out of the blue the other night, so I bought some and I've been eating it. Maybe it was the high vitamin C levels in the broccoli that I was craving?

I'm happy because today, I finally made my deadlift form acceptable. I'm sure it's not perfect, but it's definitely better.
I really needed to focus on keeping my shoulders over the bar, and squeezing the glutes on the way up.

I'm happy because...

1. I'm excited to go home for thanksgiving. Been a few months since I've been home

2. I have a kickass class schedule for next semester. Mostly music classes except for French and yoga, and no classes at all on Tuesdays and Thursdays

3. Speaking of that yoga class, I've been trying to get in it for a couple semesters now but it's always been full. I'm happy because I got the very last open spot available.

Recently I've been a lot more open about my diet.
One of my coworkers started asking me about health and diet so at first I just told her about the Paleolithic diet. She told me she was really interested in it and wanted to know more, so I ended up telling her it was actually raw. Didn't seem to phase her at all.

Other friends recently that have found out said things like it was gross, and "you need to cook your food... aren't you worried about e. coli?" and I simply did some explaining about grass-fed. Then subjects changed and there was no difference. It's not like they ran and hid from me lol.

It took my parents some getting used to, but they saw how serious I was about it, and that I had actually done research and at least thought I knew what I was talking about. I think they view it like Tyler said his parents do.

General Discussion / Re: Changes when cutting out carbs
« on: November 11, 2008, 01:11:22 am »
Hmm this is interesting because for the last week I've gone zero carb (except for a small amount in spinach)
and I've noticed no such things.
It actually seems like my heartbeat has been more normal.
My sleep is fine and recuperative.

The only thing I've noticed since going no-carb is that my recovery from working out is dramatically slower.
But I feel really great, so I don't know...

My tongue has turned rather white and furry since cutting out carbs... I hear that that's a sure sign of candida?
But it's not nearly as bad as the pictures that show up when I search for something like "white tongue candida" on google images.

It says that it's 22% fat, 78% lean.
Not the fattiest ground beef in the world, but up until now the only other ground beef that they've had has been 90/10 I believe.

I just want to share my jubilee!
I'm about to place an order with Slanker's, and they have a new item on their list:
"High Fat Ground Beef 78%/22% (2 Lbs Pkgs)"

Yippee! lol

It's cheaper too!

Health / Re: Curing Anxiety/ Depression with Raw Paleo
« on: November 10, 2008, 06:42:36 pm »
Hmmm, worth a look. Especially since I know which one i'd rather try first.

Think my problem is that I never try any type of diet for long enough as the withdrawal symptoms get so bad that I just cave in and get back on the high sugar carbs!! Will have to keep working at it and hopefully greak the cycle so that my body adapts to the RPD diet which will take time.

Boxcarguy, get what your saying about being happy all the time. There are quite a few people on this forum who state that they feel that way too after spending time on this diet. That's what I have to work towards. Time will tell. To be honest though, i'm never that unhappy all the time. I suppose its more the anxiety that gets a hold of me and the 'depression' is just secondary. I feel that my adrenals are just pumping all the time and that they are out of sync. Therefore I need to find ways of allowing them to relax and recover and low/ zero carb RPD seems to be the best option with the best results. But who knows!!!

Well I wish you the best in your recovery!
RPD has also brought me a greater sense of calm it seems, and I've noticed this school year that I have been more confident. I never would have, say, struck up conversations with random girls in elevators before, but I find myself doing things like that now.

And I, personally, didn't find it too hard to adapt to the RPD diet, because it wasn't long before my body was craving raw meat instead of junk! Hopefully same goes for you!

Wow...
I would love to be able to eat 11 lbs of beef a day...
but that would be so damn expensive!!
Plus I just don't think I could eat that much... that's an insane volume of food!
I usually eat 2, sometimes 3 lbs. of ground meat per day, plus fat and organs. I know for a fact I could happily eat a few more lbs. of meat if I could afford it, but probably not 11!

How expensive is it for you to eat that much ground beef?
Is it grass-fed? How lean is it?

In simple terms, it's when they shove a pipe up your anal passage and squirt water or some other fluid in and out so that it clears the passage of any blockages!!!!! Sounds..........interesting :o

Believe me, he wasn't asking what colon cleansing was  ;)

As far as depression, I was horribly depressed before starting RPD, due to a previous relationship. I'd been trying for almost two years to find the certain diet, the certain supplement, the certain adaptogen... that would alleviate my sad feelings but nothing ever worked for more than a few days (or a few hours).
(I don't like using the word "depressed" or "depression" because of the ideas attached to it, but whatever.)
Anyway, since going on RPD I'm quite happy all the time.
Coulda been the diet, could have been something else.
I've also found it beneficial, of course, to get plenty of sunshine and to get your bare feet on some grass at least once per day.

Eh, sorry I can't add anything useful to this... I don't know.

I've actually felt the same sometimes from eating raw eggs and raw mahi mahi. Don't know why or if it's bad.

Fair enough  :) I see your point
There is a book called "The Secret Life of Plants" that apparently shows that plants actually are aware. It is dismissed as hogwash by most, but some believe in it. I've never read it so I can't say, but I do believe plants have spirits, and very giving spirits at that.

The killing of animals doesn't bother me, even if they might have had years left to live, because I believe life all comes from the same place (God, if you will) and is in motion together. That is why I have no fear of dying, because I know that my remains will perpetuate new life. It's merely the ego that wishes to hold on, and it's this ego that I'm always trying to diminish.

Anyway, as long as you're not beating yourself up over it  8)

Whoo this is getting rather philosophical

I thought you "needed" oranges "to go"? I was looking for oranges in the Swiss woods and fields; couldn't find any so I have to do with out  :o

Nicola

Yes, oranges certainly helped, but so do the leafy greens. Spinach especially helps me in that regard.
If I find that I become constipated again (I haven't been constipated at all lately) then I will see about adding fruits back, because I feel like being constipated is one of the easiest ways of bringing yourself into a state of bad health, more so than eating certain fruits that may or may not be optimal.
