Why can't I be the guy on that show going around eating raw meats in the world? I'm much trimmer and younger than him.  >:

You mean Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern?
I think the exact same thing!

Although I do like that show though...

actually I watched it recently and they're accepting videos of people eating strange things and the winner gets their own episode or something like that. you might want to check it out

It's Slankers, not Slackers. I'm sure they work very hard.

 ;D

Quote from: TheWayCreatesTheWarrior
whats a "must try" from the Slackers?

I really have a thing for their rose-bud cut lamb kidneys.

Also the high-fat ground beef is good (once you get used to it in my case) and a good deal as well.

Almost the exact same thing happened to me recently as well.

I was talking to a girl I work with about prescription drugs, and she was all agreeing with me like "yeah people shouldn't be medicated like that"
and then the next day she was talking about going to get a prescription refilled.  l)
She asks me for nutrition advice a lot, but never follows any of it.

Granted, she's better than another girl I work with who has argued with me that dairy is essential, and other such foolishnesses.

I ended up not having any turkey (I would have had some cooked turkey if it was organic even, but it wasn't) but I did have boiled wild alaskan king crab legs and boiled peas. the crab was soooo good

and then a little bit of vanilla ice cream and berries for dessert  :D

I've only had tongue from grass-fed bison, but I'm not lying when I say it was the best tasting thing I've ever eaten.
Satisfying not only to the taste buds but to my whole body.

Exercise / Bodybuilding / Re: Low carb and zero carb exercise
« on: November 26, 2008, 12:21:20 am »
For the short while that I did zero carb, I noticed an increased recovery time. Energy levels were the same.

I didn't really notice much difference in anything doing zero carb, except for the longer recovery time, and I enjoy fruits so I added them back in.

General Discussion / Re: Problems eating frozen meat?
« on: November 25, 2008, 11:02:51 pm »
All of my meats are basically frozen. I buy bulk..I went to the farmers market and got some cheap grass fed ground beef. It was all previously frozen.

Of course fresh is best, but frozen is nowhere as near as damaged as cooked.

I feel I still get most benefits eating frozen meat. I don't think freezing makes meat toxic, but cooking does.

Get fresh if you can. ;)

This.

I've only rarely been able to get fresh meat.

Friday night I ate some baaaa-aaaa-aaaaaad stuff and paid the consequences for it over the weekend.

Today so far I've had an apple, three oranges, and two pounds of beef. Not all at once.

I'll probably have some more meat before the night's over.
I'm headed over right now to a restaurant called Sticky Fingers for a friends birthday dinner. Needless to say I won't be eating anything there.

If tongue was on the list I would have chosen that!

But my two choices were kidneys and heart, respectively.

« on: November 24, 2008, 08:25:50 am »
Yeah, I eat over 2 lbs of meat per day too.

How it eat it depends on what it is... stuff like liver, kidneys, and ground beef I will eat with a fork. Things like steak, heart, etc., I will hold with my hands and just bite it

Omnivorous Raw Paleo Diet / Re: Nuts VS Meats
« on: November 23, 2008, 06:08:02 am »
Before I discovered raw paleo i ate a good amount of seeds and nuts.
These gave me gas and a rumbly feeling in my stomach. (gas wasn't as bad as before I stopped eating grains though!)

With meat, there is no gas and no bad feeling in my stomach.

Yeah, I seriously doubt the study included grass-fed meat, so it really doesn't apply because people here for the most part only eat grass-fed. I would never eat commercial meat raw, gross  -v

Looks like they only ship to a confined area.

Can anyone confirm that claim about slankers?
That really sucks if true

Still the grass-fed fat. From what I understand, coconut oil has no omega-3s at all.

Though, funny you mention coconut oil. I just bought some today (virgin, raw) for the first time, I've never had it before. But to me it tastes really good.

General Discussion / Weird smelling kidney?
« on: November 18, 2008, 08:00:10 am »
Alright guys, what do you think about this...

The other day I defrosted a bison kidney. I opened up the package, and the kidney smelled very strange.
I've had beef kidney and lamb kidney before, and neither of those had this kind of odor.
It kind of smelled "chemically".

I contacted the place that I get it from, and they assured me that not only are the bison 100% grass fed, but that the organs are handled in a completely natural way. They are removed from the animal, inspected, and then directly sealed in the package. They are not washed in any chemicals whatsoever.
They recommended that I open the other kidney and see if it smells the same.

So I just now opened up the other kidney, and this one also smells strange.

I'd hate to waste it, but what do you guys think? Knowing that it is grass-fed and handled naturally, would you eat it?
Or does anyone get kidneys that also have a strange smell to them?

Because of taste, or nutrition?   I'd say both. Taste is so rich!! Grainfed is bland tasteing.

Yeah, probably both. I didn't even think about taste.

While some toxins might be created from the heating that the rendered fat went through, something tells me it's not as bad as the amount of toxins that gets built up and stored in the fat of the grain fed cow, due to unnatural diet and treatment, especially if its not even organic. Plus the omega fatty acid ratio issue.
