Title: Howdy from Southern USA
Post by: SkinnyDevil on June 08, 2009, 10:56:59 pm
Been raw for a LONG while, and been eating raw meat for as long. First consciously increased raw way back in '91, but hi-raw since early 2000s or so.

It's nice to see a general RAF forum & site on the web!

I look forward to learning much more from everyone here.

Welcome to the forum!

Well, it's always good to see a long-time RAFer, here. To be honest, most RAF forums I've been on seem to have a lot of people who started a RAF diet from as far back as 1997, but there are only a handful of members, AFAIK, who even considered going raw well before that period.

Where did you learn about eating RAF way back in the 1990s?

Hi SD!

I have this idea that I live in the south cuz after growing up in the northeast, I now live in the DC area.  You're probably really in the south though  ;)

Hi SkinnyDevil,

    It's me,
(one of) your internet friend(s).  I'm happy to see you here.  It's better than ning in a lot of ways.

Hey, RawZi! Hope all is well with you. Ning is pretty cool, too. Picking up a bit of info there, thanx to you.

Thanx for the welcome, Tyler. BTW: Movie or book? I dig his other works, too.

Thanx, GS! I'll fix the sig right away. Where did I learn about raw? I didn't really learn about it in the way it's talked about now. I had stumbled on some info...long story. In a nutshell, I was reading mythology & such (did you know the food of the goods of the Greek pantheon was "ambrosia & necter" [and similar for others] and that cremation is taboo for many societies/religions because they believe it destroys the soul?) and also stumbled on this guy who died back in the early 1970s who said, among many other things, "avoid cooking with fire" (rough translation from Japanese). Made me think....and experimentation made me a convert.

I only learned of a "raw food movement" of any kind about 2003 or 2004.

Thanx, Ioanna. I used to live in the DC area. Love it there. I'm in Lexington, KY...so only mildly south. But the family is from the south Georgia area. I make my way down there every so often...to the REAL south (hahaha!).

Thanx for the warm welcome, everyone.

Welcome.

There's also the line in  the foreword to "Breaking the Vicious Circle", a book about healing celiac disease, which is from the Essene Gospels of Jesus Christ, something like: "Eat nothing that is heated by more than the fire of the body".

Cool. No, I didn't know the one abut Jesus. Is that from the Apocrypha?

Apocrypha is new to me.
All I know of the Essene gospels is here:
