Title: Wrangham on OneRadioNetwork
Post by: michaelwh on April 08, 2010, 12:27:48 am
Tomorrow, Richard Wrangham will be interviewed on www.oneradionetwork.com.

I read his new book and disagree with many of his ideas, but it will be interesting to hear what he has to say.

I listened to some of it because I was curious what is his argument in favor of cooking and it seems the only one is that "cooking makes nutrients more available" and that's why we were able to grow such large brains, because we could afford it.

I just listened to wrangham and he makes some sense regarding the expense and getting additional calories through cooking.  It's not quality calories but you do get them indeed and it feeds the masses, but it is not optimal.

Wrangham is indeed wrong about eating raw meat takes a long time.  He just needs a face saving way to admit it.

He admits that he does not know with what technology in the past just how much cooking was actually done.

Could someone perhaps make an mp3 file of it and put it in a download link for the rest of us? I'd like a record so that I can demolish his claims point by point in the next 2 weeks.

There is a download link directly on the interview page, on oneradionetwork.com just log in and search for his name.

You have to be registered to download it.

Thanks, I'll download it tomorrow. I hope it's not as interminably long as the Aajonus one.
