Is that from grass-fed beef William? & Does rendering mean cooking? I have this stuff called 'Beef Dripping'.. Do you think I should use this instead of the fat that comes in the beef?

And is that fat yellow and soft?

My digestive system can't handle this raw hard-white fat(from muscles)... It makes me ill... I smell of 'stale fat', I have no energy for doing exercise, I mean I CAN'T push myself, literally CAN'T, not like the days when I've just had lean steaks with very little fat(since I last had this Sh** raw hard white fat), when I've been been able to metabolise plenty of energy, but just not have much of it so run myself really low on energy but can still keep going and push hard... With this hard white raw fat I cannot use energy AT ALL... and when I try to exercise I get the same feeling that I used to have when I ate grains, ~2years ago... the IBS feeling. I was doing much better for a few days when I had lean steak almost no fat... but it wasn't right either... I was taking in less energy than I could put out and nowhere near enough fat... but if I have the fat I can't use it anyway...

Do the people who are successful with raw animal fat only eat this yellowy fat? Because this white stuff seems BS.

I don't see how it can have anything to do with me adapting to using fat.. I've had loads of fat for ages.. but cooked. I just can't even digest this sh**. Or absorb it or whatever.

Help.

By the Way, the place I am planning on getting my grass-fed beef from is here: http://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/council_gov_democracy/news/38696.asp
What do you think about that?

This morning I had some raw Sardines. I had been at a supermarket fishmonger yesterday and ordered the plain-gutted/beheaded sardines,  he then told me they were out of them but that he would give me the garlic & pepper(sweet pepper, but he didn't tell me either way) marinated Sardines for the same price, which I accepted. Upon taking the packet out of my fridge and opening it, I found that it seemed to have been marinated in olive oil or something similar as well, which had not been mentioned; and it said that it had already been frozen. Anyway, I went ahead and ate the sardines. They weren't making me feel that great but I went ahead and ate around 500g(but that included bones which I left). After that, I had a huge craving for nuts and I ate a load of them. I've been trying to eat carnivorously, and hadn't had more than 15 individual nuts in the last (probably >)6months anyway as they never left me feeling good. However, my body seemed to disguise the negatives until after I'd eaten enough of them, and I did feel very energised by them, relative to what I had been recently... but the negative feelings kicked in not long after too.

The nuts were in a mixed bag(only nuts; not peanuts/cashews) and the overall values were around(xg/100g) 66g fat, small amount saturated; 3.9g carbohydrate, small amount sugars; fairly high fibre, probably ~8g mark but I don't remember and I think the protein is irrelevant as I get plenty of that anyway.

I doubt the reason was the fibre, as there seems to be little beneficial about it; there was only a small amount of carbohydrates and I didn't go for the sugared cranberries in the same bag(though this could just be my 'will', as I have seen nuts as a lesser-negative than fruit, and especially sugar), however I did seek out the almonds particularly and I've heard mention of 'sweet almonds', so I don't know if they have more carbohydrate/sugar.

Which leaves the fat... Is unsaturated fat much easier to digest than saturated in its' raw state? I have felt in general as though I have not had enough fat since raw, but if I've eaten much raw animal fat I've felt unable to use it and it has seemed to clog me up and make me feel sick and slow. When I ate cooked I had a lot of saturated fat from beef/pork/lamb, but that was already fairly soft when I ate it. Does grass-fed beef have much more unsaturated fat? If so, is that the yellow fat that all the beef seemed to have in abundance at Good Samaritan's market? I have really enjoyed that yellowy fat but have only found it in my beef in very small quantities. I don't think I can digest much of the white-fat I've been getting in my beef...

Anyway, something made me go for those nuts, and I felt the energy from them. This seems to show something lacking...

How come all that fat that I see is that nice soft-yellowish kind? Hardly any of my beef has that... What's the difference and its' cause?

I had parasites before I did raw meat.  I don't know if I have parasites now but it's not bothering me.

There are parasites everywhere, even the air we breath.  Maybe raw meat eating and pollution avoidance keeps the parasites in the right places of the body?

There is not Trichinosis in the air we breathe.

For beef, the proportion is 1:3 meat to fat, and lamb fat is supposed to be more saturated (more stearic acid), so could be more filling. Looks like you just ate too much fat.
I'm jealous. No fatty lamb here.

You're saying that beef has 3x as much fat as it has meat? Or that that's the proportion which you eat it in?

I recently ate some beef which had gone greenish on the outside. It smelt(or is it 'smelled'?) absolutely delicious, but when I ate it, it tasted more bland than the meat, in the same packet, which had not yet turned green. Did it turn green due to an initial lack of anti-oxidants which is also why it tasted less; or was all the good stuff going up my nose because the bacteria already used it? I also seem to remember hearing somewhere that 'we' can't get back protein from bacteria(something to do with bacteria on fruit), so will bacteria reduce the amount of available protein?

I read somewhere, that a lion has an acid stomach, so that any bacteria/parasites would be destroyed upon entry. Is this true?

If this is true: After eating raw meat, would a human gradually develop this feature?

Is urine, is the yellowness from high urea(, from high uric acid, from high amino acids) and the 'bubbles' from ketones?

Is the high amino-acid loss from: damaged tissue being broken down and replaced with the new amino acids being made from the freshly eaten food? If so, why does the body not re-use a lot more of its' amino acids/protein?

If the 'bubbles' are ketones, do keto-adapted individuals not get them? Just searched these, and doesn't seem to be ketones, but has a range of other possible explanations; all bad. =O >_+

How would the Inuit have got their water? Do they have to melt slow? If so, could the process of melting snow not make it seem as though they drink a lot of it?

On the days when I'd eaten a lot of fat(from lamb) and felt sick, drinking water made me feel worse. When I've been eaten other meat, with less fat, I haven't felt like drinking much water, but I've had dry-lips(which I had when I had the high lamb-fat meat anyway) and yellowy urine(as opposed to 'almost clear' which is generally said to be the best; is this true?). In the very short-term, drinking water has made my lips 'non-dry' but they soon return to that state if I don't drink more.

In that link, in one of his posts, why does he say(a long side accidents) that trichinosis from eating a raw Arctic predator is a reason for many Inuit not reaching 90yo(which he says they have been recorded to live to), when many here say that trichinosis is not an issue..?

General Discussion / Lamb
« on: January 31, 2010, 06:17:17 am »
Hi.

On four occasions I've had lamb(raw), and all four times I've felt sick(as in 'need to puke', however I didn't) afterwards(for quite a bit afterwards; don't remember how soon it would start but it'd last many hours). The first time it was 'New Zealand Lamb Chops' ~400g; then a single cut of 'welsh neck of lamb', this was quite a small amount anyway and I didn't finish it maybe ate 100g?; next it was welsh lamb ribs, maybe 200g eaten; lastly Welsh shoulder of lamb, shank-side, maybe 500g or something eaten. However, this lamb has been fattier than any beef I've had. When I ate the ribs, I really did feel like I could keep on eating. I didn't force the fat down, I wanted it, at a ~1:1 'thickness' ratio to the meat.

Has anyone else here had problem with lamb? What could be the reason for my troubles?

I've had fairly fatty beef, and then had a fair bit of extra raw-fat along with it too. This made me sluggish, but I don't recall feeling sick...

The lamb I've had does taste very different to the beef.

Thanks for any assistance/replies. Fairly urgent as I have a 'New Zealand Whole Shoulder of Lamb' in the fridge and if someone reckons it's just from too much fat(e.g. The lamb is grass-fed, so the fat has more nutrients but my body is not used to that yet so I can't handle much of it) then I can just discard a lot of the fat.

'Cheers'.

General Discussion / Exercise after Eating.
« on: January 30, 2010, 01:46:37 am »
How bad is it to exercise soon after eating, what are the negative effects?

In this case, I had ~500g raw beef, and then began exercising within ~10mins of finishing eating as I had a driving lesson and so was especially pushed for time. The exercise involved 'maximum ROM' contortion of the spine, so there was quite a bit of disturbance to to stomach/gut area.

Will this cause food to pass through undigested and be non-absorbable? Or will it sit in the stomach until the body rests enough for it to continue, thereby risking the food going off within the gut and causing problems later on(since carnivores have specifically short digestive tracts to avoid this)?

Thanks.

Edit:
I'm hesitant to post this but will for your knowledge; even if it's off topic and could elicit off-topic responses.
I, like my wife, have a fair amount of psychic ability. The area we both enjoy using this gift is ghost hunting. We both can pick up when an entity is near, my wife more than me, and I can sense direction while she can't. We can also feel the energy from water and high EMF fields.
Since I've been eating a raw carnivorous diet this sense is diminished (but not gone ;D). You might very well notice a greater tolerance to EMF if you change diet, but of course your mileage might vary.

So going raw carnivorous healed your brain and allowed it to function more rationally?  ;)

When I eat lots of raw fat(it's also happened to be lamb when it's been worst, but it could just be because the lamb I've had has been higher in fat than the beef), why does it seem to just sit and 'rot' in my system, make my lips dry, make my muscles ache, make me feel devoid of energy and nauseous?

Edit: This fat has been from: Lamb Chops, Neck of Lamb, Lamb Ribs & Shoulder of Lamb. All have lots of fat...

No one on this? Particularly the first point... If you can't be bothered to read the second no problem, but I thought the first was at least interesting..?

I've since found that furry animals synthesise Vitamin D in their fur, and absorb it during 'grooming', however I'd still like to know what anyone thinks about this 'Vitamin K2'. I expect to start 'supplementing' with 'fairly large' doses of Vitamin D fairly soon, although would be looking more in to that closer the the time(probably this weekend as that's when I'll order my first batch of direct-from-the-farm animal food).

The K2 seems to be highly present in meats. It's just that in a link someone provided previously to that PaleoNu guy, whilst he discussed the importance of extra-dietary intake of vitamin D, he also mentioned this K2.

Omnivorous Raw Paleo Diet / Re: Frequency of low carb meals?

Hi Lex,

Do the number of Mitochondria increase in an 'evolution-style' way? That is: When you are eating lots of fat relative to protein/carbs, and you push yourself e.g. physical exercise, are the cells without sufficient mitochondria more likely to die, and as the body repairs it's cells divide, and each time there are more mitochondria-rich cells dividing?

If not, how does it work?

And why is it that the metabolism of ketones takes more mitochondria than glucose metabolism to be effective 'in the first place'? Is this something to do with how fat needs more oxygen in order to be metabolised?

[1mass unit of fat would have 2energy units
1mass unit of carbohydrate would have 1 energy units

But to use the one mass unit of fat takes 0.5 energy units, and to use 1 mass unit of carbohydrate takes 0.2 energy units(0.4 if you double it for the same return as fat, so 0.1 less expenditure per 2energy units).]

Or something like that...? That small difference couldn't account for needing so many more Mitochondria could it? What more is there to this?

Edit: Is it not more to do with what transports the ketones to the mitochonria; e.g. L-Carnatine? I only just read about this(http://www.nahanniriverherbs.com/94,321) and you may have read hundreds of articles so I'm just asking... Would it be to do with how the body absorbs this L-carnatine? That is: It comes from meat, so if you are not yet good at absorbing it would you need more meat relative to fat until you get better at this? But anyway... just asking if it's more about the pathway of the ketones from the liver->blood->mitochondria, than the mitochondria themselves.

being a health nut has its stages.
I went through vegetarian, raw vegan, fruitarian, before reaching raw paleo diet.

Whatever my parents gave me diet; Not much diet; 0 Fat diet; Every food that is considered healthy in some-way diet(e.g. crazy mish-mash muesli with everything in it, nuts, fruit, dark chocolate, coconut, multiple-whole-grains, (whole-wheat)sandwiches with cheese, lots of salad, tomatoes, cucumbers, meats and fruit); Exclusions in diet to find the problems; Cooked Meat Paleo Diet; Raw Carnivorous diet =D

I read somewhere that our(although there may be variation from whoever this test was carried out on) fat is good for buoyancy(white fat), and not so much for heat; but that a baby's fat is good for heat(brown fat). Although I seem to remember that was breaking it down for energy, for heat as opposed to insulation... I don't remember.
