General Discussion / Canibalism references
« on: March 19, 2015, 04:41:38 am »

When people find out that I eat raw meat, at least 70 % of the times someone makes a canibal joke or reference. Maybe even a greater percentage thinks about it, but doesn't say anything.

Such ignorance upsets me a bit and I usually reply to things like "hope you're not eating humans" with "hope you're not eating cooked humans".

I find this strange in many ways, I mean, even most cultural rereferences to cannibalism show them eating cooked meat. So it's not through the raw meat eating that they make the relation. It's probably just that they equate savagery with raw meat eating. Yet I still think theres more to it than just that, but I haven't fathomed it yet.

Have you guys similar experiences?

After a year eating raw paleo I decided it would be a good idea to begin a log, to record what has my journey so far, what I've learned and the road in front of me. I think this first entry will be just about how it all began.

As most people here, I also arrived at raw food through malady. It began in august 2012 when I was 22 years old and no health issues. It started with some weird abdominal disconfort accompanied by gases. At the moment I thought it would be some fleeting malaise so I didn't do anything about it for a month. But things soon started getting worse, soon exercise gave me insomnia; I got more and more bloated, to the point it caused me great pain; heartburn so bad I thought it might be a heart attack;  ibs which wouldn't let me out of the house; anal itching that would make me stop right in my tracks in disbelief of how bad it was; very poor digestion, I could eat at 3pm and still feel full at 1 am next day.

Soon I was so brain fogged and so full of anxiety and discomfort that I could barely do any mental work. There were weeks where I would have to smoke and drink just to manage the anxiety and pain. Meanwhile I went to see many doctors, but you probably can guess how that went. Basically tests showed nothing, so It was all in my head. And they would say this to me even after nights that were so bad I thought about calling an ambulance.

So after one of these doctor appointments I realized that If they were right I was doomed. This was maybe after half a year seeing doctors, and loosing a lot of money.  Luckily for me I found soon enough about candida, and how happy I was to find that it explained almost everything. So I dived right into the candida diet, and so the nutrition voyage began.

I was amazed to see that for the first time in 6 months my symptoms were subsiding. Almost all candida related problems went away, yet I still didn't heal completely. As I was to find out, candida was only a layer. This made me begin researching compulsively about nutrition, now that I knew this was the right way. I spent my time reading in the internet and looking for different foods in markets, spending what little money I had left.

However, even though I got rid of many symptoms, some things got worse. Leaping from candida diet to gaps, then learning about paleo, etc didn't seem to really improve anything. I went from thinking I had gastroparesis to fructose intolerance. In the end it didn't matter much, I got to the point where I has hungry all the time my weight dropping drastically, overeating to satisfy my hunger; drank kefir like mad, ate a lot of nuts, etc. I could barely do any physical or mental activity, and going out to get my food was quite the chore. I finally came to the point where for one whole week I could hardly digest anything and could barely sleep due to the intense pain peristalsis caused in me. All plant matter I ingested would come out exactly as it came in.

After that horrible episode I resigned to the fact that I could only eat meat. So for a couple of weeks ate nothing but boiled meat, coconut oil and whatever fat I could get. And this was great, for the first time in months I feld I was finally getting nourishment.

All this nutrition experimenting probably took 3 months. Then I learned about raw meat....

Health / Sexual Protection
« on: October 10, 2013, 08:52:35 am »
Hi

Since most people here tend to agree with AV/Burger respect virus-bacteria interpretation, I was wondering what are your atittudes towards sexual protection? Does somebody here have unpreocupied sex without protection in whichever  scenario? ( multiple, sometimes "unknown" sexual partners).

Thanks.

Health / Almost fainted in public transportation...
« on: June 03, 2013, 11:36:43 pm »
Hi, I'm hoping if you guys can help me:

Yesterday I had a pretty nasty experience, I was standing in the public transport on the way to a friends house to swim, when suddenly my blood pressure started dropping. Very quickly it got very low, so I reached for my little bottle of clay and water ( lately I've been drinking my water with clays: zeolites and bentonite) gave it a gulp. It didn't helped, and also I had a bowel movement. Then I lost consciousness but came back quickly. Everything sounded distant, I felt week and cold and pale.  I didn't fall and thankfully I was near my friends house now, so I got out. I was sweating cold, but after I was out, my body sort of started producing heat and I felt "normal" then. When I arrived to my friends house I went to the bathroom and had a  liquid stool. I got my blood sugar tested and it was 150. I only had the juice of a grapefruit and some chia gel ( I don't drink this regularly, I was experimenting for the last 2 days with it) in the last 2 hrs. Then, since his mom's a doctor, she checked my pressure and it was low, she checked 3 times. I think the last one was 90 50 although I don't remember well. She told me it was probably from not eating salt ( which I haven't eaten in a while).

This is the first time I've had an episode like this. I had some minor postural hipotension when I tried going 0 carbs (two trys, first cooked, then raw) , but didn't have issues after. Since it's not been long since I began RAVF for health issues, I still worry about every detail, so instead of writing compulsively everything that might be wrong, I'll try to make the shortest summary possible.

I'm 23 years old now. I began having digestive issues since august 2012. Really bad colitis, brain fog, anal itching, painful bloating, indigestion, insomnia, irritation. I began seeing doctors and taking medicine, but nothing helped. So by February 2013, distressed, I began doing diet changes. First I gave up dairy and gluten. Then I found out about candida, and after researching I began a gaps, candida diet. And after two weeks of die off, I began to feel better, almost all my digestive problems ended. But my energy wasn't coming back and new symptoms appeared, like insatiable hunger some times. Then I had a pretty ugly episode, where for 1 week I stopped digesting all fiber, which brought me immense pain. After that I began eating only broth and boiled meat, and a lot of coconut oil.  And again I felt better, although the transition to 0 carbs was sluggish. So after 3 weeks,  I found about fructose malabsortion, and I began adding some fruits without discomfort, and soon after I found out about raw meat. So I made the transition to RAVF. I had two strong detoxes. First when I accidentally flushed my gallstones, and then when I drank a heavy metal detox drink by AV, which gave me massive diarrhea ( I didn't drink as much fat as he suggested) which I could only stop by drinking a lot of zeolites/activated charcoal. Both gave me more energy, but still not enough. Right now I think my liver's still bad. I began getting pain from it again, and weaker digestion, and I look bloated altough not much gas. So I made a quick flush, but didn't pass stones, and I'm  preparing for another. I'm drinking ACV, stopped eating as much fat, ate more fruit, which raised too much my blood sugar, and well, began feeling weak mindend all the time. Right now I'm sort of planning doing  a 2 days orange fast with coffee enemas and then a liver flush, though not sure If it is a good idea now.

Also I thought I should mention I smoke pipe tobacco. Maybe between a pipe or two a day, its sometimes the only thing that helps me concentrate. And that I've been going lately to the sauna and doing much more excercise.

Anyways thanks for your time, I really appreciate it.

Alberto.

Primal Diet / Help me get my fats straight!
« on: May 07, 2013, 09:54:16 am »
Hi everyone,

Let me introduce myself just to give some context to my question: I'm a 23 years old male living in Mexico City, I've been "cornered" (thankfully) into a primal diet by health issues and I'm beginning too feel much better every day ( although being a bit misunderstood by relatives  -\ ).

Well, after reading Aajonus work, there's some stuff I ponder about:

a) AV separates fats into two kinds mostly, into healing fats and health stabilizing fats. For example, avocado, coconut oil, olive oil, eggs are healing fats; and dairy, animal fats, and coconut cream are health stabilizing fats.  Since right now I'm mostly consuming healing fats, I wanted to ask what's really the difference, aren't this getting turned into calories?

b) Now, the main reason I'm not consuming much health stabilizing fats is because

-Unpasteurized dairy is illegal in Mexico City

-Coconut cream takes much time to make ( don't have a juicer!)

- Animal fats. Well, it's difficult now to find organic meat. Organic grass fed beef is too expensive, as well as most fish, oysters and lamb. I mostly have access to good rabbit, chicken, turkey and pork. But aren't fowl and pork sort of frowned upon even here? And I don't want to rabbit starve!

So my question is, is it okay to eat inorganic animal fats? I know AV says lean meat is OK, but fat? I'm asking because he says toxins mostly store in fat and organs. But since fats also remove it....

Anyways, thanks for the time!
