General Discussion / Skinny Devil!

Hey Skinny - I have a question for you.

Have you ever calculated the amount of calories you eat every day? I remember you posted once that you eat mostly raw veggies every day and then occassionally gorge on meat for a day.

Would it make sense to use an UV-B lamp at home if I can't get enough sunlight? Thanks..

Health / Parasites: Monsters Inside Me
« on: June 03, 2010, 06:29:51 pm »
Some excerpts from a show on parasites:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=search_playlists&search_query=animal+planet+monsters&uni=1

There's a bunch of scary stuff like parasites eating lungs, brains, making a child blind in one eye.

The victims weren't RAFers of course... There is some mention of undercooked pork, but otherwise they got the critters even though they ate SAD and lived sanitary lives I guess.

An interesting point is that they repeatedly mention that the parasites live in their animal hosts without causing much harm while they are very harmful inside humans. One might wonder why that is so...

Hot Topics / paleo dairy
« on: May 21, 2010, 12:12:34 am »
Not sure if this has been brought up before... But I was thinking that paleo people could have eaten the contents of calves' stomaches that had half-digested milk in them. Actually calves' stomachs is where rennet comes from. So cheese might be the most natural of all dairy. I feel like I digest it best of all dairy and was wondering why, even though I don't eat it now because it's not ideal for me.

Health / hookworms
« on: May 12, 2010, 07:29:30 am »
I've been reading on here and on the web about hookworm or 'helminthic' therapy. It sounds very very promising... Maybe the piece in the puzzle that's missing... My gut is so messed up that I have problems digesting anything but raw meat, so I hope these critters can help me.

Here is the wikipedia link, it also provides some links with further information:

The trouble, now, is to get infected. It seems nearly impossible in Germany, but I'll be going to Taiwan next year, so I might be able to go to Thailand and / or the Philippines, and I guess it should be feasible to find some place where people defecate on the ground. Well, I hope I can.

Hot Topics / Urine Therapy
« on: April 24, 2010, 03:29:09 am »
I just read in MrBBQ's journal about it... My question is... wouldn't urine, feces, and sweat be major ways of the body to get rid of toxins? So wouldn't it therefore be counterproductive to re-introduce them into the body? Why does the body excrete urine in the first place, if it were better to reabsorb it?

General Discussion / Is suet available for you easily?
« on: April 03, 2010, 06:12:57 pm »
A question for all you RAFers around the world: Can you easily find suet and where? Grass-fed / non-grass-fed, whatever... Is it normal to buy it in your country?

Here in Germany I can find grass fed meat, not so easy but possible after some research. The biggest problem for me, however, is finding appropriate fat. I can now regularly get some suet and caul fat from lambs, but that's it. I can occasionally get some fat from pigs... the kind they make lard from... not sure about the English word. But far from enough to get by. Now for the first time in a year, I've been able to get beef suet. I had to convince the seller that it is edible... He wouldn't believe me... maybe still doesn't.

Anyway... I'm really quite afraid that if my supplier for lamb closed down or if I'd have to move to another city, I wouldn't be able to find an even acceptable source of fat. Which has me kind of worry.

General Discussion / Pros & Cons Vegetable Juicing
« on: April 01, 2010, 03:57:42 pm »
Hi all,

what do you think about juicing? My stomach and bowels are very very irritable, and I'd like to give them some time to rest, so they can heal from all the abuse they've had to go through. So recently I've been wondering if vegetable juices are soothing and helpful in terms of enzymes, minerals and organically bound water, or if they are irritating my digestion.

My experience so far has been that I feel a little, but only a little uncomfortable when drinking them. And they seem to encourage bowel movement, which might also be a sign of irritation.

Primal Diet / Salt and Hydrochloric Acid
« on: March 03, 2010, 10:07:25 pm »
Hello,

let me introduce myself real quick. I've been on the Primal Diet for about two months now, previously I did WAP-style eating. I live in Germany, and I don't know if there is anybody else who is doing the Primal Diet at all...

my post is very long, so I made the most important parts bold.

Some nights ago, I woke up with a bloated belly and a lot of pain. Because of that I went to the bathroom, had diarrhoea and had to throw up. Then went to bed again. After a little while, the pain came back and increased until I had to throw up again and had diarrhoea again. The whole process went on for the about half the night and half the next day and involved a lot of pain.
From that time on, I wasn't able to eat anything without feeling bloated and experiencing pain. The pain was strong right after eating, then got less and after some hours, it became the worst. I also experienced diarrhoea and very smelly flatulence. I felt generally weak and uncomfortable.

I'm almost sure that the problem was a lack of hydrochloric acid. When I threw up that night, I did not have a sensation of acid. I have had similar experiences of feeling sick and bloated, having to throw up and diarrhoea at night me a couple of times before I started the primal diet. However, then I had a strong acid feeling in my throat when throwing up, and after throwing up the pain subsided.

So yesterday I tried taking sea salt, which is supposed to be bad for me.... but that really helped me to finally digest some food! And now I can't digest anything without taking salt with it.

The problem however, that I have now, is that I get a headache, feel tired and feel brainfog as well. Aajonus writes that most headaches are related to salt consumption. So I'm really in a quandary here... I choose headache over the inability to digest anything, but I don't like the headache / fatigue / brainfog!

Some additional info / question:
I cannot handle dairy well, even butter, as it makes me bloated (with or without honey.) I also have trouble digesting fibrous food and sweet fruit. Both of them and dairy give me bad gas. In the past, I have always had serious problems with my digestive system, stomach aches were frequent. This somewhat improved with eating less dietary fiber. Years ago I have also taken medication for Heliobactor pilori.
In addition, a week or two ago I ate a whole mature coconut in one day after reading about the benefits of coconut. My juicer (a hand held model) does not produce any significant amount of coconut cream when juicing the meat, so I just ate it. That was a mistake, as on the next day, I had a lot of stool and I could see the coconut in there. After that, I have had some flatulence and some discomfort in my stomach. Could it be that this alkalinized my digestive system so much that now I'm unable to produce sufficient hypochloric acid?

Sorry about the length!!!
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
