weird, sounds like you are making homemade nutritional yeast with the dried flakes.

I had the same thought....but when I ate nutritional yeast from the health food store it made me sick rather than helping me. I'm not an expert by any means...I just have ideas and experiment a lot. What works I stick with and pursue that line of thought. They do help me a great deal in improving my health, that is the main thing I know.

yeah...sort of. I did 100% paleo raw meats and other paleo versions spin offs plus many other diets as well. I listed them on my blog or most of them. I did recover some with many diets, 100% raw dairy helped quite a bit but then I had problems. I just move on after a few months on a diet and try something to see if it helps more. I eat the way I do (fermented dried foods) because it helps me the most of any diet I have done (short term and beyond) So I'm not sure if I completely answered your question. I would think that raw fermented dried eggs would be "paleo", but maybe not ???

I eat exactly what I have written down in "what I eat.." section of the blog. I update it frequently and accurately.

I eat raw fermented dried egg whites and egg yolks...but not any meat.

;)I'm still around and my health has continued to improve. My diet has changed in many ways since I last wrote here and since the foods are all very unique fermented foods, that I've figured out through trial and error, I keep what I eat up to date on my blog instead of trying to give a lengthy explanation and picture on here. The paleo part of my diet is all fermented animal foods so I don't know if I am true "paleo" but I'm just after what works. I have figured out how to completely avoid sugar of any kind and it significantly helps me. Anyway I'll try and update this more frequently. I guess my diet fits here more than anywhere else but it is pretty much all just very unconventional fermented food.

I just hope that maybe what I have learned will benefit someone else if possible.

Primal Diet / Re: Why would honey make me sick?
« on: December 25, 2011, 02:33:11 am »
any sugar or starch makes me sick and causes me to decline in my health, that is how my system works. It has only taken about 5 years to completely eliminate it....but I'm way better now than I have ever been.

From my experience I would high recommend being very wary of the "detox" idea/mindset...I honestly believe and have experienced that something that is healthy and healing should have a positive effect both in the short term and long term.

good luck

Nope, I wouldn't recommend fruits.

IMO sugar is problematic for the body....no matter the kind or source. From fruit, processed sugar, milk.....to starch and veggies. Cooked or raw.

Not saying one can't have pretty solid health and eat sugar they can, but i believe there is always a cost to sugar and that is slows down healing.

My dad's psoriasis has healed up really well and very quickly trying some of the foods I eat (mostly fermented foods tho some paleo too), he eats them off and on.

When he doesn't eat them very often or much it does come back. His is naturally less problematic in the summer (being out in the sun...vit D?) and worse in the winter.(Utah)

I am of the opinion, from my study and experience, that dense nutrition can very quickly heal up even very severe disease, so I don't believe it takes months or even weeks. If your interested here is my food journal link.

http://www.rawpaleodietforum.com/journals/mdee's-journalblog/

Sugar and starch always make it worse (my dad's observation) and that is very true for me, except my skin condition is severe acne.

You can heal it. ;)

I'd like to weigh in a little. I like a number of Dr. Wilson's points although most of his reasons not to eat raw seem much more pointed at raw plants (fiber argument, sugar, ect). My experience adds up to his evaluation of fat...I completely agree it should be raw (and my experience is also unfrozen).

I also agree that one shouldn't eat sugar (but ironically his diet is full of sugar, that is exactly what cooked starch is) Pizza, breads, pastas, potato based foods...all those meals are at least 80% sugar (and that is rounding down a lot). Cooked starchy veggies...same deal.

I like raw paleo foods and they are beneficial....but for me it was too much protein and so is a SAD. Too much protein makes me very sick....and a number of other things also.

In fact I tried to minimize protein by eating just raw egg yolks (less protein more fat) and it was better but still too much protein for my health situation.

So what I really don't get about this "dr.", he is against sugar (raw) but not in his diet that he recommends and he is very much against fermented foods, why?

Fermented foods (from raw food) has been my God send, it has been the best and so far the only real way to completely free my diet of excess protein and allowed myself to now be completely free of any sugar/starch. Healing has picked up I believe as a result.

So I don't know if any of that helps, I'm definitely pro RAF and want raw dairy brought back into the average persons diet...yet neither were the complete solution for my severe health situation.

I'd try the by original instructions for sure ;) I was just tossin an idea out there. Thanks for your response. Dried fat made you gag? huh? Was it suet or kidney fat?

What about a cloth over the jar, would that keep flies out? If say I was to keep it outside and not refrigerate it at all. (By the way I have read this whole thread)

9
I love fermented foods (in fact its about all i eat) but I haven't tried this. Some questions and ideas tho.

So if you put a cheese cloth or even say a shirt over the top of a jar of meat would the flies still be able to lay eggs in it? It seems to keep fruit flies out of vinegar.

Also if leaving it outside dries out the meat, what if you have more fat around the meat wouldn't that keep it moist even if left outside exposed to the air?

Health / Re: Paleo Sleeping Positions? Beddings?
« on: November 10, 2011, 11:07:58 am »
I've slept exclusively on the floor...generally carpeted...with only a sheet under me. I didn't have the soreness when I did it a few times so I've stuck with it. Every time I have slept in a bed since I my body is more sore (muscles). I recently decided to sleep without a pillow as well and have noticed I sleep less time and wake up easier (more refreshed). Every time I use a pillow I sleep longer and have a much harder time waking up. Its kinda crazy how consistent it is. So now I always sleep on the floor without a pillow. I can't sleep on my back so I'm usually sleeping on my stomach or side...most often my stomach now that the pillow is gone. Just my two cents.

Interesting you found raw milk and believed saved your life. I only found it about two months ago and believe it helped me tremendously. Ill health has played havoc with my mind but when taking raw jersey milk over a number of weeks it really seemed to calm me down. Haven't had any in a couple of weeks and have gradually started to get anxious etc again. Getting a new batch on Monday and will experiment again. What benefits did you get?

Yes it is good stuff, and I mentioned the breed because jersey has some of the creamiest (highest fat content) milk of any breed. If not the highest its close. I believe the fat is critical...I eat raw kidney fat now because consuming raw cream everyday is really expensive...but that's what I want my kids to grow up on.

Only the bread has been consistent over 3 years,

I used to eat egg yolks everyday for  about 2 years.

I'm always trying new things, and experimenting cause I need to heal so I can go back to school...being sick really messed up my mind. I am planning to be in school (university) this January....its been about 3 years since I've attended.

I've taken the egg whites for about 6 months now...I only eat when I crave it so its not often right now.

I've experimented with the kidney fat for a couple of years...but didn't learn til recently that freezing it was making it way less effective or digestible.

Clay water I've drank for about 2 years as well...but I really mix it up right now, and use a certain band of clay that has been more effective than what i've done in the past. I've used that method for only a few weeks now...

Sorry its not a simple answer...but my constantly evolving diet changes all the time, but somethings have stayed consistent.

And it becomes more and more stable and consistent the more close it becomes to correct (for me anyway)

i don't recommend egg whites...my dog will eat raw egg whites along with the yolk, but my cat will only eat the yolk.  I feel better when I only eat the yolk.

Exactly...I agree. Though yolks work better for me I still have some real problems with them

How can one tell if the egg whites have fermented, and not simply dried?

Forgot to mention earlier...dried egg whites that you purchase in the store don't have the same effect.

interesting the sourdough works well for your IBS. How long have you been doing that combination?

For 3 years now...and I only stick with something if it really gives me results. Basically my main points of progress goes like this, raw vegan (sprouts too) and I was down to 137 if we really round up, very sick and I believe on my way out. I cut out fiber...helped a lot....found Jersey raw milk, which put 25lbs on me and I believe saved my life...but the weight didn't all stay. Then I figured out how to make sourdough bread and to eat it hot out of the oven. Its made a significant difference in my health and I think I will eat it for the rest of my life. Clay water and egg whites were things I discovered most recently...but I'm still experimenting and still learning!

Well because raw egg whites make me very sick, and the egg whites make me feel healthy. If I could have it tested nutritional that would be nice to prove it....but it cost $$$$ that I don't have, so I guess there is no proof.

Well I've already tried a primal and raw paleo diet both for months and incorporated what aspects work for me and tried other's for what wasn't working as well so I'm not 100%....its a really long story. I can't digest probably 98% of foods very well...including many raw foods. idk why but i'm working to get lots of my ideas and story up on a blog, if you want here it is

http://upside-down-nutrition.blogspot.com/

I've read a ton on this forum...I just never post, I do this on tons of nutrition/healing/diet forums...but I'm going to be better and share somethings too.

About me...well I've tried almost every diet under the sun paleo and primal included. I currently still eat paleo just not 100%. I'll be around.

Well, I'm new and just read the welcome message(however I've been on this forum a ton, just no posting)

I'm grateful for how relaxed and friendly this forum is. I've been on plenty and this is one of the best by far!

How do I add information into my profile?

Yeah about the protein and my experience with raw paleo. I have really bad crohns/ibs so I struggle digesting everything. I used to eat lots of egg yolk, any raw meat or raw protein had to have plenty of fat but even then my digestion struggled a ton. I've looked at how little protein infants get when nursing and so I haven't been too worried having very little in my diet...I feel better. I get some raw protein in the fat and possible some from the sourdough bread. Surprisingly I have put muscle on eating this way. I'm a hard gainer for sure. Not tons of muscle but definitely some. I'm 6'1'' and have been down to 137 lb, now I'm currently at 155-60. I'm still learning

I'll blog how to make my egg whites either today or tomorrow.

Well I'm one of those people who reads every nutritional forum out there, and reads them extensively. But I hardly ever sign up and rarely if ever post. But I've tried a ton of diets and healing protocals and think I should share my feedback. I've done raw paleo and primal eating...and still incorporate it, but 100% isn't best for me. I've started a blog that shares idea's and what I'm doing. This crowd will probably be more open to it than most. I'm no writer so this is far from easy for me. If your interested...
