Off Topic / Re: Do you Rock the Ganja?
« on: February 16, 2011, 07:39:15 pm »
I used to smash it like a fiend!!  many times daily!!, from when i was 15 till i was about 29....it lead to other drugs like acid, speed (lots of speed) and extacy, but also DMT, mushrooms, and ice, coke ....now i don't touch anything, except for the occasional wine or beverage.....

I found it (weed) on my own while i was bush walking as a youngster. I saw some guy in a suit, with a suitcase , tending these weird plants in the bush....when he left, i looked more closely at the plants, and kind of knew what it was from stories at high school. So i picked, dried it and smoked it. I will never forget that first stone when i was 15.

I smoked it , ate it, drank it (tea) grew it...there is a massive pot culture in Australia..... it was very hard to get away from in my later years of  my use of it.

I think it is a very miss used and misunderstood plant...i definitely did not give it the respect it deserved, and as a result, developed other serious drug habits later in life....

I seriously think it damaged my mind in the early teen years, and as a result i am seeking some nurofeedback therapy for a possible attention disorder.....

Not sure on the science on its overuse, but i know i definitely overdid it......

Some people seem to function fine on it, others , not so....

But i also see habitual users that use it daily, running themselves into the ground to afford their half ounce a week habit, on top of their other habits....its silly to create a reality that is so expensive to keep! ha ha....  Unless you grow it of course....

Ganja? yeah i knew that guy.....haven't seen him for a while.....

Hey , i'm from Brisbane.
Just been raw primal for about 2 months. Having a hard time finding a good source of organ meats , but enjoying the health benefits all the same ....
How long have you been on the raw stuff?

Aajonus said that in order to prevent constipation it's good to add equal amount of butter to the cheese that some eats.

Yeah, i got his books and i was doing that....plenty of each. But i still get the odd bout of constipation....sort of every 3rd or 4th BM.
I'm sure there is something i'm having too much/little of.....just gotta find it. I have noticed i don't have as many BM's as when i was on standard Aussie diet, which i think Lex explained in another thread....
I'm pretty new to the raw primal/paleo thing so i guess i'm still experimenting/refining things that do and don't work for my system.

Yeah, i knew there was plenty of preservatives in most of them, but was hoping for some names of good ones that may be available.
I make my own jerky, so maybe i'll just have to make my own salami too.

Has anyone experimented with making there own cured salami's ???

I haven't tried making pemmican yet, but i'll get there. Don't like the cooked fat idea much though....

Has anyone experimented with cured meats and good salami's? :D
I don't know too much about the process, and i'm sure there are plenty of crap ones out there, but i know that some are just air cured....
Can anyone recommend any good ones...?

Or does the curing class as cooking? Not sure on the paleo/nonpaleo politics of it all....

Wow, got a little hot around here since i last posted....  8)

I only go through 2 litres every 4 days or so, so i don't think that is overdoing it....but i think i may cut it out for a month or 2
(after reading all the 'hoo harr' earlier on in this thread) and see how that feels.

The milk is from jersey cows, and tastes pretty dam good. I eat the shit out of raw butter too, so maybe my total load of dairy is getting up there..?
I also get a bit of no salt added raw goats cheese, which i hook into a bit ....hmmmm

I do crave dairy, so maybe there is a connection with some of the constipation i've been having on and off of late.

Forthehunt How long did you fast for?? , and how did you break you're fast? Juices? milk? ha ha ...

Prior to eating RAF, i couldn't do dairy at all without super amounts of phlegm, from cheese, and bloating and gas from raw milk. But before i started eating RAF, i went on a 13 day fast (water only) I came off the fast with the intention of following Aajonus's primal style diet, and found that raw dairy was fine. In fact, once i started on raw milk, i couldn't stop guzzling the stuff! So now i have raw milk and raw butter daily. No phlegm, and no bloating.
But its early days for me. Ive been eating RAF/Primal for not even 2 months....but hey....i feel better than ever. So far.....

But i will definitely cut it out if i feel any trouble brewing, but at the moment, i crave it more than not.

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Re: Hair loss and ZC

Since going raw primal, a mere six weeks ago, (after a 2 week water only fast), my hair feels stronger and looks heaps thicker and shiny. My gf reckons that my 'thin patch' is thickening up too.
I also had some success in slowing hair loss prior to going RAF with diatomacoius earth. It is about 80% silica, and it made my hair and skin & nails feel great. But now , i just eat lots o raw meat n' fat!  ;)

Cool, thanks .
He seems like a sharp cat. I'll check out some more of his stuff. :)

I've ordered that book, 'primal body, primal mind' (or similar title) but since i ordered it , i read a shitty opinion of it on one of the threads here....kinda bummed about the fact it may suck.....but i'll read it anyway.

thanks again.

Thanks guys,

Just started reading 'The Vegetarian Myth' by Lierre Kieth this morn....can't put it down.
So much of it is ringing true to my own experience as a previous vego.

Can anyone recommend any more good reads on ancestral type paleo diet, or argument for vego/carnivore/omnivore?
Ive read a bit on the subject ( obviously, cos i've gone primal/raw paleo) but would love to read some more to increase my arsenal of info for inquisitive/naive friends and such.

Cheers.

Hey there,

New around town....
Been reading this forum for the past few weeks, so i thought i'd better join in and stop being a nosey parker.
I've been following a mainly primal diet (AV) for the last six weeks or so, and gotta say that at the moment i feel the best i have in a long while.
Its been a long path to get here, but i finally feel as though i'm on to something that "works" for me.
See y'all around
