Title: braaaaiiiiiiinnnnnssssss
Post by: svrn on November 16, 2011, 07:29:33 am
I just got my first brain and it doesnt look very appetizing to me. Should I just eat it with my meat instead of my usual fat since its so fatty? Any brain eating suggestions?

Take the membrane off, or mince the membrane very well.

I usually put onions and lemon in beef brain.

Refrigerated sheep brain is exquisite like the best ice cream.

Eat it by itself. It's really filling and I doubt it will mix well with muscle meat. I'd also make sure it was warm when you ate it; I doubt it would be as appetizing cold.

i might have to try the onions and lemon. I tried it plain with my steak. The taste was quite bland but the texture almost made me throw up. I ended up finishing a bit of what I had on my plate by taking it like a pill with water and threw out a bit since I couldnt bring myself to totally finish. How long can i keep the brain in my fridge? I have an entire cows brain and can see myself finishing it if i dont have to do too much at a time till I get used to it. Right now however it is quite a brutal organ in my opinion.

I've tried it spiced, and it was nice. I like eating it plain though.

Brutal?  Never thought of it that way.  The ones I get are smooth.

It is definitely smooth but the texture is such that I cant help but gag a bit when eating it. The texture is just so slimy and unpleasant to me.

Remove the slime by squeezing a lemon on it.

And I was really thinking brain highmeat would be good, before you said this that is.

Does anyone have experience with both deer and beef brain so I can compare? All I've had was deer but it was much nicer than the beef sounds. It had flavor to it and was creamy like a soft pudding.

Never had deer brain, but I would describe the beef brain I've had just like you described deer brain.

Puding? Interesting ughhmm what if we mix the brain with raw honey and put it on nut crust from pecans? Throw some butter and egg yolks to the mix damn my mouth is full of water !!

I put lemon / calamansi on brains to kill the SHARPNESS of fresh blood on the brain.
