General Discussion / bacteria strains?
« on: January 11, 2009, 11:46:21 pm »

does anyone know the main types of bacteria present on raw meat, and their effect in the intestines?

i just ask because in conventional health Acidophilus is always talked about like its the main bacteria in the intestines and therefore most Probiotics are based on it. but ive been wondering for awhile about the bacterias found on meat.

General Discussion / Slackers questions
« on: November 29, 2008, 03:16:41 am »

ok, never ordered from Slackers before.

i usually buy meat from Whole Foods and Organs from Northstar. but Slackers looks like the best option for a onestop shop.

i usually get Bison sirlioin from WF.
On Slackers theres a huge jump in price from stuff like Roasts and "Minute Steaks" to highend cuts like Sirlioin , so id rather go that route and get more. im just wondering if theres a big difference in prep, cuz Sirlion is pretty easy to chop up and eat, is the cheaper cuts worth it?

also is there a size difference between Soup Bones and Leg Bones, i assume Leg bones are whole and need to be cut?

also, the only fat i usually consume outside of whats on the meat, is bone marrow, but i was thinking of getting some Fat. whats the differences between "Bison Suet" and "Bison Fat".

and last but not least, whats a "must try" from the Slackers?

General Discussion / "The way i see things is so simple" -Gojira
« on: November 29, 2008, 02:05:16 am »

i find it interesting how many people dont come to the most simple concepts/conclusions on their own(not literally "on their own", i mean more through researching it).

like, last night during Thanksgiving a few times i needed to clarify my diet to people(wow, what a suprise! l)) i dont really venture into "Raw Paleo" unless the conversation goes that deep, but while telling people how i believe a Paleo-type diet is the most natural diet ill usually tell them that carbohydrates are the only macronutrient that you dont need at all. most people are actually blown away by this, and the fact that they never realized that.

i guess i dont really know where im going with this post but it just suprises me how something so known to me is so outside the normal conciousness.

Off Topic / worried about upcoming Codex?
« on: September 05, 2008, 09:29:10 pm »

just wondering what everyone is planning on doing in the near future when Codex Alimentarius is passed(Dec31,09)?
seeing it will be mandatory for all livestock to be given rGH and Antibiotic injections.
at least this is the time it will be est. in the US, its already underway in the UK, and the rest of the ONE WORLD soon enough.
i guess owning your own livestock, or hunting is the only hope, but then youll be a terrorist.

do you rotate the type of meat you eat?

can you develop "sensitivity" to a particular type of meat if you eat it too often?

Info / News Items / Announcements / AV on Ripley's
« on: June 02, 2008, 07:15:33 pm »

i think Aajonus Vonderplanitz was on "Ripley's Believe It or Not" some years ago. i remember seeing it on TV before i knew who he was, i think the segment was based on him eating High-Meat. it may not have been AV himself, but someone that followed a Primal Diet.

does anyone have a clip of this?

General Discussion / probiotics
« on: June 01, 2008, 07:06:16 pm »
ive been taking probiotics on and off for probably close to five years. they do seem to increase digestion/food transit time/ general lighter feeling in abdomen, when eating cooked food, but when eating raw(paleo) i dont feel any need for them.

anyway, ive always wondered if the bacteria typically found in probiotics in anyway inhibit or compete with the bacteria found in the typical RAF diet?

General Discussion / frozen/fresh meat
« on: May 29, 2008, 11:08:11 pm »
does anyone eat meat that hasnt been frozen?

i get most of my meat from Whole Foods and im not sure if its frozen before they put it out, i assume it is seeing its from New Zealand. Aajonus wrote that freezing meat is inferior to fresh, and sites animal studies where animals fed frozen meat had deleterious effects vs animals fed fresh meat. but i find it hard to get it fresh.

General Discussion / breakfast
« on: May 28, 2008, 01:53:52 pm »

whats your typical breakfast?

do you even eat breakfast?

i feel best with a light, late breakfast of berries or none at all. heavier breakfast make me alittle sluggish throughout the beginning of the day.

i havent read the book, but what ive read of The Warrior Diet makes some sense to me, just snacking throughout the day with a large dinner. digestion just doesnt seem to get along with activity to well.

Primal Diet / Aajonus' views on meat
« on: May 28, 2008, 01:40:13 pm »

i havent read the "primal books" in a few years but i think i remember Aajonus making no distinctions between conventional supermarket meat and organic grass-fed meat. i did , and still do disagree and find it kinda weird that he would hold factory farmed meat to the same quality standard as grass-fed free-range meat.
does anyone know if hes changed his opinion on this?
