Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Re: De Vany vs. Graham

One only has to look at that photo of The Bear to see how utterly dubious photos etc. are re judging peoples' health. He looks great, yet it seems he's had throat-cancer and, interestingly, heart-disease, and lord knows what other health-problems which he hasn't mentioned yet.

There are other obvious considerations.Physical appearance is not an accurate way to  judge health for the whole of the body. For example, if one had seen photos of me pre-rawpalaeodiet, one would have seen a very fat but jovial figure with lots of fat around the face giving an extremely deceptive healthier look than the scrawny red-eyed sad-looking photo I took many months into the RPD diet. Pre-RPD, I'd had terrible health-problems, many of which were quickly solved within months of going rawpalaeo, but a superficial person looking at those pics would make the wrong decision based on such evaluation.

And there is the genetics issue. I have come across studies claiming that parental characteristics such as decreased aging rate re reduced numbers of wrinkles can be passed on to descendants.

I might be wrong but doesn't he only eat cooked meat? Also he smokes if I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure those are the reasons for his problems.

Also wow.. Doug Graham looks awful. I mean, wow. And that other guys looks have definitely gone down hill since he vent vegan.

Aight, will do.

I am excited to see how this'll go. I am in pretty amazing shape right now but definitely having a hard time gaining weight muscle and weight, so it'll be interesting to see whether low rep high rest will do the trick.

Wow. 1x a week? You're a pussy!  ;)

Ok sure do heavy weight lifting 1x a week but atleast cardio on the other days. Jeez, I'm training like 13x a week and I'm gonna try to tone it down to see if I get more gains that way but I'm gonna continue doing daily cardio.

Honestly, I've tried every diet under the sun. Vegan, Raw vegan, SAD, RZC, fruitarian, vegetables only.

With all these diets I looked thin, my face was hollow and I just generally looked like a pussy aswell as my energy was just so horrible that I could hardly work.

When I switched over to RZC my energy came back and I have now a stable awesome energy. Yet I had a lot of brain fog, heart palpitations and was extremely irritable due to lack of carbs.

So what I do now and makes me feel good and I feel I am healing (skins clearing and healing very fast) is eating a big fatty meaty meal before I go to bed so that my body gets plenty of calories. Also the good thing about eating before you sleep is that it helps you sleep and the meal is digested when you wake up there for you don't get the tiredness you sometimes get when digesting. Then over the day I snack a little bit on fruits. Perhaps an apple and a few carrots. That's it.

The only thing I'm trying to figure out now is whether to eat cooked meat or raw meat. I'm still a bit scared of all the "parasite" theories and so on.

So what this article says is eat 50%  animal product and 50% carbs (fruit, grain veg?)

532
Hope you get better buddy.

So you were actually just stuffing your self with meat every second of the day + with beer?

I did up my protein intake but not through the roof like you did and I must say I feel better. My brainfog seems to be vanishing atleast.

I have a question though. If I were to eat nothing but fish, would I get rabbit starvation? I'm curious because vilhjalmur stefansson just ate fish for long periods of time.

Thanks

God there are so many douchebags on this forum.

He's sharing an experiment obviously he's totally pumped with the results. Perhaps it's not 10lbs or perhaps it is?

How about you clean up your act? I for one really appreciate this post.

Everything is normal.  You eat and go to bathroom as needed when you need to make room, just like my cow example.  It's actually not so bad, until rabbit starvation sets in.  That's when your body is rejecting it and you're going all the time.  Which took me a good 5 days.  I guess I had enough of that mystical micro-nutrient to handle pounds and pounds of lean meat for 5 days.  Imagine if I rationed that meat out further.  It might have taken a few weeks for it to set in.  That's just me though, I'm a healthnut, so I'm properly nourished and built up a good amount of stores.  I can't say the same for the average Joe.   Most of the meat is assimilated into your body.  That's how you pack on weight.  You eat more than you shit and piss.

The amount of food causes you to burn up like a furnace.  Had to turn the heat off because I was so thermogenic.  Slept in the nude.

Skin is glowing and hair shines.  I look younger.  Faster heal rate for zits and blemishes.(I was experimenting with sourdough whole wheat before this, bad idea.  Very allergenic and androgenic.)  Looks like I reversed a lot of the damage I done from last year's drinking and that damn bread.

I would definitely do it again once my stores are built back up, minus the diarrhea part.  I think I'm just gonna do it for 4 days, return back to eating normal and repeat until I get to the size I want to be.

So you feel that eating such a high amount of lean proteint with high fat intervals is doing you a lot better than when you were eating regular and set quantities of meat higher in fat? Personally I feel a lot better since I started eating raw meat besides the fact that I've been having a looot of brainfog. Also my temper has been extremely short and basically anything tiny makes me rage.

I'm thinking this is because I'm not eating enough of protein thus my brain is not getting enough fuel.

- just in case you missed this

Interesting..

So you're eating 10 pounds of lean meat per day? And when your body feels it needs fat you binge on fat?

One thing I'm worried about is putting a load on my digestive system like that. What is your skin and bowel moments like after you started doing this? To me those 2 are always the strongest indicator if somethings right or not.

(just wanted to bump this to the 11th page so it would get more views)

Hey guys.

I just recieved my suet I ordered and you know when you eat a steak and the fat near the skin is always so sweet, buttery and melts in your mouth? Totally yummy! And then inside the steak there is sometimes this gritty, non tasty, non melting type of fat that to be honest feels kinda gross?

Anyway suet tastes and feels just like that. And to be honest it just feels kinda unnatural seeing as it doesn't melt in my mouth.

So I'm curious what are your oppionions on suet? Is it safe? Because it feels like this stuff would just clog up my arteries even if it's raw.

The reason why I'm a bit scared of it is because my heart has been feeling a bit off since I started being carnivorous. I don't get palputations but it just feels kinda "heavier" and like it's working a lot harder. To be honest it scares me a little bit.

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / I don't get how fish works.
« on: January 06, 2010, 03:55:48 am »
On paper I don't understand how Vilhjalmur stefansson could survive on a couple of meals of fish a day. I mean, he was mostly eating white fish i.e. sea fish that is not very fatty like salmon or trout.

I also read somewhere here that if you eat too much lean protein it can cause you to get a buildup of uric acid and get gout...

So is fish somehow different than red meat because of how fast the protein is metabolized? Because I don't understand how it can give energy because it's not that high in fat.

(also I know that his energy was fine when eating nothing but fish. He wasn't eating any seal blubber or what ever)

Chicken eggs, for example - 1 g. In raw egg yolks it's 4 g.

actually it's around 0.4g per egg. Not that it matters at all. I find it extremely strange if people intend to skip eggs because it has a tiny amount of carbs. It's still carnivorous  :)

541
Variety of berries, contents of the stomachs, shellfish, fish and organ-meats, which contain some small amount of carbs

It may contain a few grams of carbs but I'd hardly call it "carbs" if you know what I mean.

542
From biochemical point of view long-term zero-carb is very unhealthy.
Difference between VLC and ZC is huge.
I was wrong when I said that the diet of Inuits was ZC - it was VLC, with some zero-carb periods of time

What carb foods were they eating?

Like stated above, I live in Iceland and there is no natural carb food here. Sure in the summer there is a tiny tiny tiny amount of blueberries I could pick, but that's it. And it's the same in Greenland.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just curious where they'd be getting their carbs from then.

543
You should read a book called the blood type diet.

I definitely don't agree that carbohydrates are poison. The thing is though, depending on where you live, who your ancestors were and what food they had access too is what matters.

According to the book, the people with blood type O should be eating very low carbs and be in a ketogenic state. How ever when it comes to people with B blood type they say they should be eating fruits and carbs, etc and avoiding excessive meat consumption.

I live in Iceland, and hardly anything grows here. It just makes perfect sense that I should be eating lots of fish and meat, because that's what we have abundance of. While someone who lives in thailand obviously has a massive access to fruits and veggies and there for is more suited to eat and digest that.

O blood type is the hunter blood type and B is a gatherers blood type.

Anyway this book made huge sense to me and I suggest you check it out.

544
Basically my question is. Does it work long term or will you eventually get sick and possibly have heart problems?

Because I've tried raw vegan for a few years and it does not work.
