General Discussion / Re: BUGS? INSECTS?

Haha, well this sounds repulsive to me at the moment.  I like the idea of crickets a lot.  I have not tried "high-meat" yet.

Hey guys,

Been awhile for me on here.  Getting the curiosity to start thinking about edible insects.  However, I have no idea where to start.  I don't even know if I can purchase these or maybe have to go out in the wild and find my own.  I'm sure this has been covered on here before.

Thoughts?

General Discussion / Re: Supermarket fish?

No, i agree that freezing is far less harmful to living stuff than heating high heat.  It seems the rule of the game is go for it if wild-caught and looks fresh.  I have a nice fish market somewhere way downtown.  But i don't have the time, money, or energy to drive an hour a few times a week to purchase nice stuff like oysters, clams, etc.  I want to try to get more into that in the near future.

Whatever I get would be wild-caught yea.  I'm still up in the air about this stuff too.  I agree that eating fresh would be best.  Raw meat that has been frozen is still a "dead" food per se yes?

OK guys,

What is the protocol for supermarket fish?  My Kroger has pretty good looking wild-caught frozen stuff.  I think I saw Ecuador on some mahi-mahi.  I want to eat some stuff other than salmon.

Health / Re: HIGH Calorie?
« on: April 24, 2014, 04:29:36 am »
Part of my problem is i had lost energetic balance to what seemed like half my body so it was like having a battery with only one terminal instead of two.  I don't know if I can find any coconut around here.  I know the young ones I can find but yea coconut oil i haven't tried for awhile.  I do all the basics with plant fats from olives, avocado, etc.  I want to go back and find some bone marrow, etc soon.

Health / HIGH Calorie?
« on: April 24, 2014, 03:23:12 am »
OK guys,

After a long time with my own health journey I stumbled upon a major blocked acupuncture meridian due to old weightlifting injuries.  Here is my problem.  Body is CRAVING calories when i work on this thing.  It just will not tolerate low calorie food.  I am craving junk food like crazy.  Trying to stay as clean as possible during this process.  So question is:

What super high calorie foods/recipes do you guys go to?  I use all the basics but any ideas would be helpful,

Much love,

I would ease into it really.  Here is the way.  raw fruits are easy.  don't feel obliged to eat all the fiber either.  Juicing can be helpful.  Plant fats are great.  avocados, olives, coconut, etc.  Raw eggs are pretty easy.  Bone marrow is a great fat.  Try to focus on clean eating before anything else, and don't neglect exercise, rest, mental/emotional and spiritual factors either.

General Discussion / Re: Question of the DAY?!
« on: April 11, 2014, 03:21:46 am »
I definitely can vouch for that last one.  The cleaner you eat the more you lose taste for all the crap.  As in sauces, seasonings, etc.  I sometimes find myself in disbelief that people can eat all the things they do without a second thought.  It doesn't even look like food to me anymore.  Most sauces are just soybean or other strange oils mixed with corn syrup or some other crap sugar.  I make some great BBQ sauce though mannnnn.  Here the recipe.

-3 TBSP raw olive oil
-2 TBSP raw honey
- 1 tsp bbq herbs
-1 tsp cider vinegar
-1 tomato optional

General Discussion / Question of the DAY?!
« on: April 08, 2014, 11:42:33 pm »
OK GUYS,

Why do we think people enjoy cooked meat over raw for the most part in "civilized" (ha) countries?  I understand it from a sanitation perspective and what not.  I for one follow the vibrational principle in foods.  Basically most raw fruits/veggies/plant fats are best cooked.  There are "enigmas" in nature however.  As in cooked potatoes vibrate higher and digest better when cooked.  Certain animal foods fit that category for me as well.  As in very slow-roasted low temp type of stuff.  But the point is;  WHY do we seem to be attracted to cooked meats so much of the time before we are taught or otherwise find out due to health reasons?

General Discussion / Re: Warming up food without cooking it
« on: April 07, 2014, 08:39:59 pm »
in the winter especially i warm up fruits and veggies in warm water sometimes.  sounds like you are talking more animal foods here.  I am one who thinks that sometimes heated animal foods are ok albeit as long as they are warmed up properly.  As in no frying, cooking super high temp.  This would more be things like very runny egg whites and yolks, smoked meats, etc.

I tell you what.  Most of the longest lived people in the world attribute spirituality as TOP.  Also, most eat some cooked food; have been through hardship, etc.  Honestly, if we stress out super much about what we do; it detracts.  Everyones different.  Natural diet is best.

Hey guys.  Kroger around me recently added fresh young coconuts to it's arsenal.  They are delicious as is, but anybody know any good ways to mix em up a bit?  I want to make some pina coladas.

I keep foods around specifically for "macromineral" purposes.  My electrolytes were way out of balance.  Still working on them.  I don't worry about sodium too much.  Just eat sea salt if you crave it.

POTASSIUM: bananas, swiss chard, avocados, PAPAYAS, mushrooms, salmon; cooked stuff would include yams, potatoes, and certain beans.

General Discussion / Re: Your view on supplements
« on: May 31, 2013, 08:55:08 pm »
I think very few supplements are truly needed.  Most can get from food sources.  Best sources?

kelp or seaweed - iodine
liver - b12 and b complex
cod liver oil - vitamin d, omegas (sun is best)
papaya/pineapple - digestive enzymes, vitamin C (papaya is LOADED)
fermented foods - probiotics
raw fats - great for most everything
marrow bones - for joints

Personally, I think magnesium is one of the harder ones to get from food.  Unfortunately, there is more in some of the "non-paleo" foods.  Swiss chard, spinach, greens, and some nuts seem to be the best sources for these.

Other than that, a "whole foods" supplement like Dr. Schulze stuff seems best for broad-spectrum type stuff.

General Discussion / Weight Gain?
« on: May 27, 2013, 05:53:32 pm »
Ok guys.  Healing up.  Trying to put back on some weight.  Problem?  I am using MASSIVE amounts of calories.  Like upwards of 3500 a day.  I have had to resort to a lot of cooked, sometimes junky food to get in these types of calories.  My digestion is healing but is still somewhat shot.  Especially on the raw protein/meat or nuts digestion.  Fat digestion is improving but still sluggish.  I am needing huge amounts of carbs/sugar right now as well.  So question is; does anybody know any good ways to get in large amounts of calories without bingeing on the junk too much?  Either way, I need to eat.  Have access to most raw paleo foods and raw dairy as well.

Had some amazing beef yesterday.  Haven't had beef for a few months.  Been eating a lot of lamb and salmon.  So this was ground sirloin slowly heated in the oven (not above 90 degrees) with bone marrow melted on top near the end with a little sea-salt.  DELICIOUS.  Sat really well. Probably had almost half pound.  I was just sitting there remembering the feeling that I would have with 1/2 pound of COOKED hamburger in my stomach.  I was just curious if anyone ever gets that smile on their face with smooth burning raw meat knowing that it's so easy in the stomach and digestion =)  It's good to remember such things.

Health / Re: Kidney cleansing?
« on: March 11, 2013, 04:42:42 pm »
Hey guys.  I basically am on raw-scd type diet.  I have been doing everything great the past few years.  Found out I had serious problem with energy flow in my spine due to compressed cervical vertebrae.  It's like I turned on a water hose and now the kidneys/bladder are dumping extremely fast.  Typical diet day for me:

9-10 AM: Fresh pressed veggie juice (celery, beets, beet greens, carrots, tomatoes, other greens, herbs, etc)
11 AM:  Post-exercise FRUIT.  Could be a few apples or a bag of blueberries or pears.
12:30 PM: Meat meal #1: maybe 1/4 pound of raw ground lamb warmed in the oven
2:00 PM: Meat meal #2:  same as lunch
5:00 PM: Big bowl cooked veggies with some type of raw fat (butter, olive oil, coconut oil)

I'm giving Dr. Schulze detox tea a shot for the time being.  Powerful and good all-around seems like.  Has stuff for liver/kidney/bugs, etc.  It is getting to be spring here.  Maybe I will try one of these watermelon fast type days soon here.  I think all this will clear up soon.  It is more just getting the traffic-jam moving smoothly again =)

Health / Kidney cleansing?
« on: March 11, 2013, 05:34:58 am »
What do we think about this one?  VEGAN diet is not an option.  Question is how to cleanse and nourish the kidneys to decongest them?  Basically on RPD right now.  A few cooked vegetables at night.  Meats include salmon and lamb.  raw butter, coconut oil, olive oil, soon other fish.  Veggie juice.  And fruit.  MMM.  Any special ideas?  I may use dr. schulze detox tea.

General Discussion / Seafood sourcing?
« on: March 04, 2013, 07:23:55 pm »
Hey guys,

My body tends to like fresh seafood.  Especially in the spring and summer.  Especially when raw =).  Problem is; I live in Indiana.  There are a few quality sushi places.  I get mass amounts of alaskan salmon that is amazing.  How else do you guys go about getting stuff in bulk?  Order online?  I don't really feel like going to restaurants all the time or markets.  Ideas?
