Title: mineral absorption through ash
Post by: svrn on October 09, 2012, 11:26:25 pm
when i smoke herbs in my pipe, sometimes some of the ashes go in my mouth as im inhaling. when they touch my tongue they ashes instantly dissolve. does this mean that the minerals in the ash are being absorbed well into my body?

Good point. I said that incorrectly. I recall research being done that showed that ingestion of burnt food or foods with burning on them was carcinogenic.

Plants take in and utilize nutrients in a different way than humans. We also cannot live on dirt as a supply of food. If we could that would seriously change the world as we know it.

They take in one thing and create another thing which happens to be useful to us or the next creature up on the food chain. Then we take in their carcass and create something that is useful to something else in the food chain.

Life lives off life.

Not sure of the complete theory of "dirt eatin", but my impression is that it is related to repopulating the gut with bacteria.

dirt is much different then clay.  clay has a substance that is similar to plastic that helps it stick together when wet.  dirt is more of a term for the mix between soil and sand.  soil is an ecosystem in and of itself

eating dirt is good in that it can populate your body with the bacteria necessary to process minerals into something that can be assimilated by your body, clay contains these minerals and also certain minerals and chemical compounds that are said to flush the system of unwanted or excessive minerals and waste products
