Title: Do you wash your Organic Fruit and Veggies?
Post by: AnopsStudier on February 17, 2015, 10:12:32 am
Ive asked this question before i think but thought Id ask it again.

Do you wash your fruit and veggies if they are organic?

I get mine all from the local farmers market that uses no pesticides.
My tap water smells like a swimming pool and its full of chlorine.
Should i be washing them in it or maybe spring water, distilled water....etc?

Or stick with what Ive been doing and.... not washing them

I only wash stuff that can be gritty, like greens. On something like celery, you can just wipe the dirt away with your fingers.

Sometimes I wash and sometimes I don't. It kind of varies by my mood, the type of fruit or vegetable, if it comes with dirt on it, and if I'm fairly sure it's organic or if I have doubts.

Sometimes what I'll do is leave a bucket of water sit for a few days to evaporate the chlorine, so I can wash non-organic greens before juicing them. I suppose I could also wash and then dry them. Or I could just get a filter for the chlorine.

If you're bathing in chlorine filled water (like I am), then you're already getting a pretty large dose. A few drops on your apple are not gonna kill you.

But if you're worried about it, you can do one of the things I said above (let water sit to evaporate chlorine, or wash and dry, or get a water filter)

Eh, I meant showering, not bathing. Bathing would be worse I suppose.
