Title: Dawn Meats of Ireland
Post by: goodsamaritan on July 11, 2015, 07:53:44 pm
Saw some beef legs in the supermarket.

Dawn Meats of Ireland.

Is their beef grass fed?

Did you read their website? I took a glance and was impressed by their avoidance of the "grassfed" detail, so I concluded that either (1) grassfed is such a given in Ireland that they don't mention it, or (2) they are avoiding the subject altogether.

They do tout their customer service, energy management, and breeds. I'd email them if I wanted to know about grassfed vs grain-finished.

Sorry, I was just typing on my phone in the supermarket.

Found it hard reading the website in a phone.

Thanks for the tip!

I bought a big foreleg bone to test it.

Will be eating some meat raw to taste it... maybe I will get lucky.

Seems the answer is that Irish beef as a whole is mostly grass fed... though in the winter they would get something else.

Good enough to try.

I had some bone marrow and the surrounding meat for breakfast.
It tasted pretty good.
Maybe this animal was mostly grass fed.

I'm making bone broth for the rest of the extended family later and using this 5 kilo bone.
I saved the raw bone marrow and some meat for myself.

I will probably buy more of these.
I saw some more in the super market.
