Title: Raw Python Nutrition and Healing
Post by: goodsamaritan on September 14, 2015, 07:33:26 am
In conversations with my far mountain contacts, one of their staple foods is Python. Of course they cook. And they all swear python meat even cooked, on a regular eating basis, is beneficial, healing for the skin... diseases, infestations, infections... They dont care, it works.
Who am i to doubt them?
So i gave word to order a couple of pythons for my family.
I heard the fat is stored bottled as skin medicine.
Their usual cooked recipe is adobo.
Anyone try eating raw python? Tips?

Many years ago I drank raw python bile. It was the most bitter as well as most slimy fishiest taste I have ever had in combination.

Doesn't seem like there would be a lot of meat on a python, but certainly enough for a few meals, I wouldn't doubt them if they're plentiful.
Ball pythons are a common pet here, at this point I don't plan on visiting the reptile store to buy one for consumption. Rattlesnakes are more commonly eaten here. I've heard good things, most people say they taste like chicken. I've seen some frozen in specialty stores, and I've heard of a few restaurants who have them on the menu. I can't remember ever having any in the past, but it's on the list now for sure.

Holy wow, nevermind. I forgot how huge these things can become. Do you know what type of python they're eating regularly?

Cooked adobo style python tastes like chicken.
Too bony, inconvenient to eat.
But health benefits, awesome... legend.
Medicinal value... intense. When my brother had full body psoriasis, the chinese doctor gave him a formula with snake stuff in it and my brother shed his own entire skin from head to toe in a few days.
This probably is what we would get here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reticulated_python (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reticulated_python)
I will take pics of what I get in the next weeks or so.
"Grady was a member of a B-24 bomber in WWII that crashed in Australia after returning from a bombing run against the Japanese in New Guinea. He survived over 130 days, most of it solo, while living on snake meat that he obtained by hurtling large rocks on the creatures. By the way, he didn't have the means to make fire so he consumed these raw! In the end, it was his sheer willpower, sense of optimism, and serpentine diet that enabled him to endure one of the most epic tales of survival in recent times."
