There is a subsection which claims that the Amazon was previously cultivated in ancient times, but the population numbers given pre-1492 are so unbelievable, it cannot be taken seriously.

Humans created the Sahara desert, right? Through deforestation, farming, over-hunting, etc..

Strangely enough, it seems that humans had no effect, it was simply that the Sahara used to be a desert until the onset of the Neolithic era when it became full of water and then it became a desert gradually until nowadays.
