Title: Food combining, especially fruit
Post by: cherimoya_kid on February 07, 2016, 10:52:15 am
I find that certain fruits can really cause digestion problems (cramping, gas) if I combine them wrong. Persimmons are the biggest offender, I can only eat them next to bananas, honey, or dates, NO other foods. Dates mix well with anything for me, and bananas mix OK (not great) with most foods. However, bananas don't mix well at all with watery fruits like mango or oranges. Papaya is the only exception. Papaya mixes well with pretty much anything. It's a good buffer between non-agreeing foods.

The protease enzyme papain in papaya makes it a digestive aid, whereas persimmons are known for Diospyrobezoars.

I love persimmons. That's very backstabby of them, causing bowel obstructions and whatnot.

Have you tried AV's "pumpkin pie" recipe? It's made out of persimmons, dates, honey, walnuts, butter and cream.

Now that is a sleepless night, right there. I get terrible cramps and gas if I mix persimmons with anything but dates, bananas, or honey.

Rotten/fermented fruit combines great with everything to me, as does honey.
