Title: Article on coldest inhabited place on Earth reveals an interesting dietary point

One of the points mentioned in the article was that (plant-) produce does not endure for long  in the freezing climate, so that the diet of the inhabitants consists mostly of meat. I wonder why frozen plant food is not as durable as frozen meat.
