The truth is that real cavemen would have been far better organised to survive and would have had greater group-cooperation/ethnic cohesion within their own tribe so would never have suffered(or conned their way out) like the modern-era types featured in the above article. I do so loathe it when people always assume that everything is better since palaeo times, and that any sign of flaws in modern humans is claimed to be equivalent to emulating the so-called "evils" of the palaeolithic humans.

I suspect modern peoples would be wholly humiliated if such an experiment ever happened. After all, cavemen had 10% larger brains on average(and same body-size, so had much higher encephalisation-quotient scores overall). They would all look ultrafit and strong and would easily outcompete modern athletes. Come to think of it, even Neolithic human types would have beaten us at sport:-

Then bear in mind that Palaeolithic-era humans would have been subject to intense eugenics from both other humans and Mother Nature, so any survivors to adulthood would have far better fertility, more powerful immune-systems etc.
