Title: What Does the Bible Say About Eating Vegetables?
Post by: surfsteve on September 29, 2018, 11:14:32 pm
I'm not a big bible fan but I was thinking about it and wondering. Seems like the only thing they weren't supposed to eat before they were kicked out of the garden of Eden was a vegetable or if you're being more particular a fruit. And there is also suppose do be something in there about eating pork; but didn't that come later?

It says a lot about eating lots of fruits, vegetables/herbs and grain, particularly bread. Some have hypothesized that they actually meant meat when they said bread back then.

It also talks about which animals you should eat and which you shouldn't.

For example:

You may eat any animal that has a divided hoof and that chews the cud.
However, of those that chew the cud or that have a divided hoof you may not eat the camel, the rabbit or the hyrax. Although they chew the cud, they do not have a divided hoof; they are ceremonially unclean for you.
The pig is also unclean; although it has a divided hoof, it does not chew the cud. You are not to eat their meat or touch their carcasses.

-Deuteronomy 14:6-8, NIV

Just stumbled across this. What the bible says about eating animals. Which are clean/unclean to eat, about phytotoxins, carnivores and scavengers and other things https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9UjzFoE1FI&t=1316s There is some interesting information in there, but also some things that don“t make any sense. Whatever you make of this :)
