Title: primal/paleo -> vegan?
Post by: livingthelife on November 28, 2009, 03:02:26 am
There's been discussion here from time to time about veganism. Some if not many of us primal/paleos have been vegans, or nearly vegan vegetarians and found from experience that that method of eating caused poor health.

Does anyone know of anyone who has tried primal/paleo and then became vegan or near-vegan vegetarian?

I don't know of any.

The path I've noticed in most folks is SAD -> vegetarian -> vegan -> primal/paleo

Maybe that will change as primal/paleo becomes more common and people explore it earlier.

I just haven't ever heard of people abandoning proper animal foods in favor of plants.

    Wb ltl!  There a guy with a blog.  He ate raw meat for a while and last I heard is raw vegan now and still searching.  He's a body builder, and the blog has run several years, and he receives many comments on it.  I can't think of his name.  Another friend who went from SAD to raw vegan to RAF to Weston Price pointed me to the blog.  He would know, but I've been out of touch with him.

Well, some people expect immediate results so might leave RVAF for raw vegan diets. In my own case, my problems with RVAF diets were primarily due to raw-dairy-consumption, so it is vaguely possible that if I hadn't had the sense to ditch the raw dairy, that I would have, in the end, been forced to go raw vegan again(I'd had, by then, incredibly painful stomach-aches from eating any cooked animal food whatsoever, so it was either RVAF diets or raw or cooked veganism  for me).

I would be most interested in the numbers of raw vegans/fruitarians who eventually go in for RVAF diets. Sure, some may go back to cooked diets, including cooked animal foods, but I suspect that a lot of those groups go in for RVAF diets because they experience a few health benefits from not eating cooked foods(ie no heat-created toxins consumed) and want to avoid nutritional deficiencies.At any rate, I suspect that the number of RVAFers worldwide is getting quite large, these days.
