I see the meat at Whole Foods being gassed behing glass. It's very creepy. I thought it was to keep it red/pink, as a protection against the outer layer oxidizing. Either way I think it's bad idea.

i am sure if enoguh people wrote to whore foods they would stop this practice...perhaps a layer of corn "plastic" film over the meat, or create a new marketing where slightly brown meat shows that it more high quality and natural and show the comparison to fast food nation where the burger and fries last forever but "real food rots"......perhaps i should trademark that

OR,,, go to hanging meat like the photos from GS. It stays red a long time that way. First thing I do when I get home is get the meat out of the paper wrap from the store. Even meat laying on top of each other goes brown.
