Title: Minor concern
Post by: TylerDurden on February 15, 2010, 08:56:37 pm
I did some checking of youtube videos and I'm a bit concerned about some videos of raw vegans/fruitarians stating that they are on a raw palaeo diet(at least some clearly never mention eating raw meats, just raw veg/fruit). Now, by their definition we were all fruitarians/vegans in the Palaeolithic era, but it's annoying that they're stealing the very term we use to describe our own RVAF diet.

Who is "we", exactly?

The term "paleo" is used in some circles to mean meat-only or meat-mostly (like most of the folks here) while in other circles it means essentially "unprocessed" while in other circles still it means mostly fruits & veggies along with lean meats....and so on.

Depends on whether you're speaking to the guys at Caveman Diet, Paleo Diet, THE Paleo Diet, the Stone-Age Diet, the Hunter-Gatherer Diet, and so on. Lots of books - everyone with a slightly different definition.

While it's silly for fruitarians & vegans to co-opt a term when they already have MORE descriptive terms, it's not like there is a single definition of "paleo diet" to start with. Besides, I seriously doubt it will stick for them. Too many hardcore vegans who like to distinguish themselves from others by being more, not less, specific.
