Title: Seed Oils

does anyone use any seed oils such as flax or hemp, etc?

I used to take them pre-rawpalaeo diet during my supplement phase. I didn't find them useful at all, and, in hindsight, they seem rather unhealthy  not to mention non-Palaeo.

I have used them in the past. There was a brand of raw salad dressing I bought for a while, it was flax oil, agave nectar, mustard powder and some other stuff and it was really good!

I guess coconut oil would technically count as a seed oil as well right?

I used to take flax oil years ago. Now apparently flax has phytoestrogens.
And of course almost every food in the SAD has soybean oil in it...


I do love my hemp seeds, but I prefer eating the whole seed rather than an oil.

what about olive oil, macademia nut oil, avocvoda oil, would this be ok?

I think most would opt for olive-oil(if raw/extra-virgin). To be honest, though, I view all vegetable-oils and seeds as being relatively unhealthy. Certainly, Palaeo tribes wouldn't have eaten either(well, perhaps a few olives or avocadoes in solid form, but oils etc. didn't appear until much later, AFAIK.

i did see some raw ground up flax sprouts, I would suggest them over the seeds, I prefer to get my plant fats whole, fresh organic coconut is a favorite of mine, only 2$ a piece,  good deal! ;D

i think i remember Aajonus saying that most oils are ironically 'drying', he may have excluded Coconut oil, i cant remember.

i personally take Olive Oil and Cod Liver Oil.

i make raw sunflower butter out of raw organic sunflower seeds and unrefined cold pressed sunflower oil
