Title: What are the lower sugar fruits?
Post by: kurite on March 23, 2010, 02:13:06 pm
Im starting to eat fruits lower in sugar. Just wondering what are some of them? I heard all berries are relatively low sugar. Also ive been eating large amounts of watermelon, is it high in sugar? What about acidic fruits? thanks P.s. I realize almost all fruit has lots of sugar but Im talking more about the concentrations of the sugar.

All sorts of berries are low in sugar and high in soluble fiber, which makes the carbs slower to digest. Avocado is very good (it's technically also a berry) Olives Acerola Rosa Canina

Well, watermelon is high in fructose, apparently. But, realistically speaking, you shouldn't bother with this issue of low-sugar fruits and just eat fruits of a wide variety; the only exception is if you are sure you have some sort of inability to handle carbs, in the way that Paleophil and a few others have, in which case why eat fruits at all?

Could try Granny smith apples and pears as they aren't as inflammatory as say citrus and banana's.

Apples and pears are the fruits which contain the highest ratio of fructose/glucose. As Tyler said you shouldn't bother with the issue of sugar intake. The more important is to eat mainly wild fruits, as they are the healthiest ones.
