Title: My friend is interested in paleo...
Post by: kurite on April 25, 2010, 03:42:06 pm
My friend questioned me on my diet a while ago and is interested in paleo but not raw paleo. I realize that going paleo will definately be good for his health but will he even detox from this? Is it even safe with all the oxidized fat? thanks

It's a step in the right direction. Just a little more... rare steaks, seared steaks... you know... just a little more...

Yah but in raw paleo you are encouraged to eat lots of fat. But when you cook fat it oxidizes. Isn't that dangerous?

Not immediately. You encourage rare steaks. That gives him some edge. Sashimi is always raw.

Well, I know my health, body composition and physical performance increased / improved DRAMATICALLY when I went from very low carb (VLC) whole foods vegetarianism (mostly leafy greens, eggs, butter, shredded coconut, flax and whey to keep VLC as a vegetarian...not sustainable) to cooked Zero Carb. I gradually went to less cooked and have now been 7 months (since September 2009) Raw Zero Carb. So, yes, getting him to paleo is so much better than what he had before. Even if he stays cooked paleo, it is better than sad, esp. if he incorporates some raw meats.

If he is going in for cooked palaeo, then he should aim instead for eating lean meats so as to avoid the cooked fats. Cooked animal fats are one of the least healthiest of processed foods, given the higher levels of heat-created toxins that form in them during cooking.
