i just got a few hacked up pieces of cow marrow bones last night from my local friendly halal butcher's for free. i ate the bone marrow today with some lime juice, fermented fish sauce, garlic and a bit of salt and pepper, and the bone marrow was soft and creamy and sweet and melted in my mouth like ice cream!
does anyone else have the impression that bone marrow tastes like ice cream? or has it been so long since i've had actual ice cream that i'm mistaking the taste? it would be interesting to make (non-sweetened) dessert type dishes with raw bone marrow...

It reminds me of butter so not surprised it tasted like ice cream with the other stuff in.

I love raw bone marrow! But it is not at all sweet to me.

I love it, and my kids love it, too. I think more of butter then of ice-cream when I eat it, though. This is something that I recommend to friends who have never tried raw meats, because the taste is really pleasant. I mostly eat mutton marrow but I enjoy beef too.

Agreed, its one of the easiest foods to get accustomed to raw paleo.

I like it soft and fatty blended with pineapple and cayenne, or just plain marrow. I haven't tried goat, horse or mutton. Some time -..

has anyone noticed a lot of blood in the marrow? this is day 2 and i scooped out the marrow out of another bone and noticed a lot of bright red blood on it along the edges where it touches the bone. i guess this is a good sign that it's fresh and healthy?

Yes, the marrow I get has blood in it, too. It doesn´t effect the taste much. If it is too slimy and bloody, then I don´t eat it. I like it a bit hard and creamy!

At the end of each meal I am eating some raw grass fed beef fat. The more I eat it, the more I love it. It's starting to taste like ice cream!
