Title: Rough and ready procedure to estimate fat in mince/ground beef?
Post by: Josh on April 30, 2010, 02:47:23 pm
Does anyone know a way to estimate the quantity of fat in mince/ground beef without electronic equipment?

At school we measured the energy in food by burning it...thinking along those lines.

My supplier does not measure unfortunately.

That must depend where you are. Over here it varies...my supplier sells 'high fat' and 'low fat'. In the supermarkets you can get 80/20 or 60/40 etc.
