Title: meat turning brown
Post by: nicole on May 08, 2010, 01:54:11 pm
why would my fresh meat turn brown in spots on the outside when kept in the fridge? I keep it in a glass dish. Is this a bad thing or natural? Thank you.

I think this is just natural, Nicole. My meat turns brown all the time, and I dont mind.
I think it happends when the meat is exposed to air? I really dont know. But you can safely eat it, I do it and never got sick. :D

It means that it is turning into a delicacy.

Okay, well that is good. Is it okay to leave several steaks stacked up on one another or should I have them all spread out? They turn brown when stacked, but get a little dry when spread out. I buy for 4-5 days at a time in steak sized cuts.

I am really confused still about what the best way to store meat is that keeps it the most nutritious. Should I stack them all up in a glass jar or lay them out on a glass dish? What is the best way to store them for up to 5 days strait? Do they need to have air on all sides?
