Title: Do your high meat jars keep the smell in?
Post by: Josh on August 09, 2010, 07:49:18 pm
I've got these jars with a rubber seal and clamp down lid to hold it tight. The smells still getting out though. They're possibly not the real deal.

I was thinking of trying screw top, but wondered what type you have and if it works.

Judging from others' comments, try a tray full of baking soda.

We use the screw down "Mason" jars. My girlfriend puts them in a plastic bag. Baking soda would also help.

Do the Mason jars keep the smell in well? I've tried some other screw tops and baking soda and it's better but not great.

I've got a feeling that smells will escape due to gas from decaying causing pressure and coming out.

Does this seem right?

Do you put the baking soda in the jar or put the jar in a air tight zip loc bag with baking soda?

Are you asking me or them?! I thought the baking soda was for the fridge.

All of you that have made high meat before...so you just leave a plate of baking soda sitting in the fridge?

I bought a box of Arm & Hammer with a little tab on the side to open it up. Just left the box in the fridge.

That's what most do.

I also think so.
