Title: A hunter's journal
Post by: alphagruis on September 03, 2010, 03:08:48 pm
I killed my first boar two days ago, shot right in head with a 300 WSM bullet. A fairly young animal about 3 years old.

I had a bit work and to learn how to cut the animal into pieces and prepare the meat.

For the first time I drank a bit of boar blood and ate a chunk of its brain yesterday .Brain tasted good and blood was delicious.

I love wild boar. It has a real gamey taste.

how much did the bullet fragments damage the brain?

Well I discarded about one third of the brain. The bullets are designed to kill for sure and so the damage is high. One may also suspect traces of lead or other heavy metals to be deposited in that part surrounding the bullet's trajectory.

Might copper bullets be any better?
