Title: Fur trade pemmican
Post by: William on August 19, 2008, 10:45:05 am
Historical pemmican from the Canadian fur trade in the 18th and 19th centuries. http://www.pc.gc.ca/lhn-nhs/ab/rockymountain/natcul/natcul09_e.asp
So they didn't eat it alone. Wonder what a wild onion looks like?

A wild onion looks like green grass with a small onion bulb for a root. I pulled some of it up when I was clearing part of my yard for a garden this Spring/Summer. The smell gives it away.

After reading this: http://www.scib.gc.ca/pls/pp/ppack.info?p_psn=161&p_type=all&p_sci=comm&p_x=px I'm not going to eat it. Need my iodine. Now wild garlic is different, haven't seen any nearby though. http://www.ppdl.purdue.edu/PPDL/weeklypics/3-10-03.html
