Title: Slanker's Pet Food?
Post by: Caveman on December 03, 2010, 02:45:16 am
Hey everyone. I apologize if this has been asked before, but I've read some people buy the mixed, ground "pet" food from Slanker's and eat it regularly. I read it's considered pet food because it has a higher fat to meat ratio (is that right?). At the cheap price they charge for it, I was thinking of getting quite a bit of this. Who here regularly eats the pet food? I am guessing it's quite calorie dense and nutritious as it's got a good amount of protein and fat with the organs mixed in. Would you recommend or not recommend this? With the higher fat content, could it be a problem for us to digest it properly?

My only problems with it is that it's ground and frozen.  Otherwise ..
grassfed organs and lots of dietary saturated fat are right up my alley :P
I digest the fat just fine. (as long as I stick with my diet otherwise.)
I haven't been 100% zero carb though.

you can order the minimum amount, try it out, and if you like it buy in bulk next time.

I bought a pound of USWellness.  My cats wouldn't eat it.  I wound up eating it.  It wasn't bad, but not my thing though.

i think slankers pet food is 90/10, that's not anymore fatty that regular ground beef.

i have been eating pet food from a farmer i buy from here.  it's extremely lean though.. just a blend of lean meat and organs, no extra fat.  i can't even see any fat, though there must be some.

i really like the pet food i eat.  i'm kind of still a wimp to eat organ foods any other way, so until i just start buying some organs and eating them, i keep incorporating pet food.

Lex regularly measures the pet food and it is consistently 16-17% fat by weight.

Fresh organs definitely taste Divine. This is the only reason, I'm little afraid of Slanker. But in rare case, I'll consider to have this Slanker. Lex Rocker story is very inspiring and if he gets the positive result, than I'll get the benefit too. It's affordable, available and much better than anything else...

Hey raw, you should check out my new journal in raw zero carb. I am doing a pet food only journal. I will be posting my results every week or so. It's called Pioneer's pet food journal. I happen to like the pet food. It is very strong but you will get used to it. To me it really is not that bad.
