Title: Mammoths could be reborn in 4 years
Post by: TylerDurden on January 14, 2011, 12:57:31 am: Some overly dogmatic anti-palaeo pedants have tried to claim in the past that since it is impossible for us to eat things like mammoth meat nowadays, that there is no such thing as a genuine "palaeo" diet. However, if mammoths get recloned, we may well be having raw mammoth steaks within a century or two.

All this frankenscience makes me uneasy. Natures self regulation seems to be quite good with a single exception.

It's not that I disagree with this line of reasoning. I have a thing for sabre tigers. But there are so many things that can go wrong. Without cloning or anything, migration of certain crab species by ship are causing some serious problems. They eat everyting in the areas they migrate to and have the odacity to not even taste well. To reintroduce species into an environment that are radically different from the one they inhabited in their days may be a really bad idea. And to keep them in a zoo...well I think zoos are kinda cruel actually. I see the value of cloning, but I also am aware of our succesrate as gods.
