I would imagine sticky cooked fats would be the primary culprit of clogging our inner rivers...

However...
my brother had a couple strokes when he was an infant.
Of course he was not eating tons of cooked fats for 30 years,
so maybe chemicals and a weak start could have been the problem in cases like that
