Title: U.S. Wellness Beef's Pet Food
Post by: Fermenter Zym on March 15, 2011, 12:41:47 am
Has anyone had U.S. Wellness Beef's pet food?

I'm going to call today to see if it's safe for human consumption.

i'm not sure what info you've found already, but i did once order us wellness' pet food for my dog. i will never order this again. it smelled really good, but it is super high in fat (only 60% lean, which is about 85-90% fat by calories). this was too fatty for my dog's digestive system, she was with diarrhea all day (she normally eats about 60-70% calories fat per day).  i could not handle this much fat either, and felt guilty/foolish for not realizing the nutritional data before i ordered.  i assumed they'd use a leaner mix like my farmer and slankers, but i should have actually read their ingredients better.

while their pet food is 'not for human consumption', you may choose to either eat it anyway as some here do, or you can ask if they would make a mix for you that is (leaner, if you prefer) and 'okay for human consumption'.

I had bought the pet food and tried it. It's a good amount of fat for me, I'm sure I eat most of daily calories as fat. I unfortunately wasn't too big of a fan of it's taste raw though. However, I don't really like raw organs yet. I prefer raw muscle meats a la steak tartare. I ended up cooking the pet food and it was pretty good.

It's hard to beat the price for grass fed beef.
