On the Primal Diet Yahoo group, one poster mentioned that she'd just been involved in a child custody battle, in which the Primal Diet had featured(presumably her ex had cited the Primal Diet as a reason for taking sole custody of the child). Anyway, the outcome of the case was in her favour, which is very interesting,as it indicates that the authorities can't just take children away from their parents because of an extreme diet being practised in the household.
Same thing was tried when that Wifeswap episode aired, masses of people phoned the social services insisting that the parents be jailed etc. for child abuse, but the authorities pointed out that the children weren't being coerced into doing the diet and were not in a state of ill-health.
Anyway, it shows that things are improving on the social scene, if raw animal foodists are being viewed reasonably favourably by the authorities, if only to a certain extent.

I know (personally of) a situation that turned out that way too, but it was more than one child. Truth and justice can prevail. They don't always, but good to know it can.

I'm using my work break time to ask this social question that has arisen at work: what should I bring to the department pot luck lunch? None of my carnivore foods seem appropriate or inexpensive enough, so I'm leaning toward a fruit salad, since it will probably be a cheat meal for me anyway.

I would suggest keeping it paleo Phil and wouldn't consider a fruit salad - unless, of course, it consisted of bitter berries etc! ;) If it's going to be a 'cheat meal' maybe just some kind of lightly 'cooked' paleo food? On the rare occasion I eat out I always try to settle for a blue steak with steamed green veg and hold the potatoes. Perhaps a similar thing but cut the steak into chunks and mix it up with the limited veg. You could even offer an 'optional' unhealthy sauce separately for those that want it but, obviously, don't add it to your own portion.
Re: the social issues of RAF diets - I'm not greatly looking forward to the many battles that will inevitably ensue with family, childminders, schools, other parents etc regarding the feeding of my son. Good to know Social Services probably won't become involved though! :)

Yes, good idea, William. I doubt anyone will actually eat it, but there will likely be more than enough food there for everyone anyway, and this will give me something to eat.
