looks like, when they are cooked, people eat the whole thing.

I bet they are much like raw shrimp, the exoskeleton can be chewed up but it wont fully digest.

also this.froma  NYT article  "Even the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle gobbled them up: in his 4th century B.C. text Historia Animalium, he noted that the young nymphs are tastier than mature bugs, which have a harder exoskeleton, and that among adults, the egg-laden females are best. "

How do you plan on catching them?
As the come out of the ground? Or when they are mature?
I'd like to try it -- but no clue what to do.
Thanks.

i hear they are very easy to catch. Like they just wait for you to pick them up.

I worked on a Vietnamese Buddhist temple, and I remember the children going out into the woods and bringing back gallon jugs full of cicadas.  They lightly pan fried them and made them a part of a large banquet with rice, fish soup and lots of other strange foods. This was in my pre paleo days so I didn't eat any.
