Title: seasonal cravings
Post by: svrn on May 24, 2013, 12:44:47 am
iv been eating probably 5 percent plants for many months now with no issues. Iv been loving it and feeling great.
However the heat of the summer has brought on new cravings and now I crave juicy fruit a lot. I had some watermelon the other day in the heat and it made me feel great. I am very cautious however because I know that in the past when I ate too much fruit it caused problems. This watermelon I had went down very smoothly though and caused no problems except making me hyperactive (I was yelling things in the street and running around due to the sugar rush) and I felt a lot less hot after.
Perhaps my body can cope with all the fruit better during the summer? Could it because im sweating or something else? All the fruitarians promote absurd levels of the kind of excercise where your running a lot or biking really far or something like that as opposed to something slow like weight lifting i forget what these two categories of excercise are called. Maybe its because you need to be sweating a lot to do well on fruit?
ANyway, ill experiment with more fruit during the absurd heat of this summer and see if I get the same negative effects I get eating fruit in winter. If the watermelon incident is repeated then I think so.

I think vitamin D is the key. In summer you are getting more vit D, which counteracts harmful effects from the sugar in fruit (inflammation).
I could be wrong though.

I find my cravings for plant foods increasing too. I usually eat 3 fruits a day, each one an hour before I eat my meat/fat meal. But lately I've just been grabbing random fruit. I think it might also be that I'm increasing my fermented food consumption which could be increasing my carbohydrate digestion. I notice there's less (almost none) white stuff on my tongue. I started with 1/8 tsp of just pickle juice, then 1/4, then 1 tbls. Today I ate an entire pickle. So that might explain why I want plant foods more than it being summer (since I live in south florida).
