As I read the article, Arnhold Ehret and its mucusless diet system came into my mind. There are so many variables to diet and mucus and how it may protect us. I think to speculate would at most be interesting. For instance, the article described how mucus houses virus's that protect us. My guess is that they are in competition with the bacteria in the mucus and surrounding areas. What Ehrat might say is why are the bacteria there in the first place, and what are they eating to stay alive and propagate?
So, would a mucus free diet be counterproductive to health..?
It seems so..
I have been on a low starch diet for a couple of years but did not have much energy.
I feel better when I consume higher percentages of starches, like bananas for example.
They are mucus forming and I personally believe(d), starch is an important component in the diet.
Makes sense to have a mucus membrane for protection. Especially for the guts.
