I wonder if they only need such high quantities because they're using the cooked version.

Since I started eating raw meat, eggs and more recently raw dairy, I've noticed that I rarely develop much plaque, even if I don't brush for a couple days. Whereas before I would develop thick plaque if I didn't brush very often.
