Title: South America and yellow fever
Post by: Haai on June 02, 2016, 12:06:18 am
I will be going to Brazil, Peru and Ecuador in a few months. I do not want to be vaccinated against anything. Does anybody here amongst us RPDers have any reason to believe I should be concerned about yellow fever, or any other disease for that matter?

I  once visited South America 20 years ago, and it was made extremely clear to me that without evidence of such vaccinations for 3 big tropical diseases , I had zero chance of travelling there. Granted, in hindsight, if I had had the gift of the gab and wanted to bribe the relevant border officials, I could have easily gotten away with not being vaccinated at the time, but one never knows.. For example, since then,  in Peru the government has introduced far more women police-officers into the force as they are known to be far less corrupt than the men(apparently, the women  feel that being given bribe-money by men is akin to prostitution).

I would suggest not worrying about it, especially since you presumably live in a northerly climate where those diseases have never really manifested anyway.
