Title: Are teas out?
Post by: Robinlove on August 29, 2017, 11:16:15 am
If coffee is ok, is tea?

I like tea. Wah!!!

How about lemon juice? Maybe just the peel?

Neither coffee or tea are OK, certainly not being raw.I admit to consuming both, sometimes, but I would rather do that than be anti-rawpalaeo in other ways. The way I see it, herbal teas/coffee  are essential for cooked-food-consumers, though.Topic moved to hot topics forum.

Humans also ingest large numbers of natural chemicals from cooking food. Over a thousand chemicals have been reported in roasted coffee: more than half of those tested (19/28) are rodent carcinogens. There are more rodent carcinogens in a single cup of coffee than potentially carcinogenic pesticide residues in the average American diet in a year, and there are still a thousand chemicals left to test in roasted coffee.

I don't see anything wrong with having herbal teas like green tea or lemongrass

Nonsense! Of course teas are paleo! Find a puddle of water below your favorite tree and drink from it. Otherwise gather up some tea leaves, put them in a jar and leave them in the sun.

I take teas for medicine. Taheebo works well for fungus, mold, candida issues.

Techincally teas are not raw paleo.

Oh. I think I get it. Sun tea is not paleo because you guys say so and alcohol made in an animal bladder is paleo because you guys said so. This forum is not about diet it's a religion. I suppose eating poison hemlock is paleo because for sure a lot of our paleo ancestors ate it and died from it. Good grief!

Translation:
In occasional accidental poisoning, occasional confusion of its root with parsnip, celery, turnip, and even its young leaves with parsley has sometimes been suggested, but the risk appears very small due to the large size difference and of the distinctly unpleasant odor that recalls the urine of mice or cat especially when it is crushed, while parsley has a characteristic pleasant odor. Moreover, it is covered with red spots on the stems, always absent in parsley.

However, a case of proven poisoning proves that the smell and description are not enough to discourage some people from consuming this plant. On May 4, 1922, at L'Orignal, a small, predominantly French-speaking municipality in Ontario in Canada, seven members of a nine-member family died within four hours after consuming boiled hemlock root.

Ok so teas are not paleo (especially boiled hemlock) but genetically bred cows who's ancestors barely resemble the animals that existed in the paleo era and are fed grass who's hemlock and other noxious weeds have been sprayed with round up are? (and don't belong in hot topics...)  I guess I would have known that had I been studying my paleo bible...

These cows are not paleo, you're right. Better eat wild animals meat.

So taking some fresh water that has been not heated, adding some herbs in it, and letting sit some some minutes/hours is not paleo? It's definitely possible to brew teas without hot water, takes just a bit longer time. I do this all the time, indoors, or summertime outdoors, or if temperature are suitable. Actually, tastes even better then with hot water.

I don't see how cold tea could not be palaeo, if there is no heat involved.

I certainly don't see how tea could be bad for you. Coffee isn't necessarily bad for you either. Personally, I only drink coffee pre-workouts and that's it.

The amount of caffeine in tea is way lower than in coffee, so you're safe to drink of it a bit more.

Moderation is key my friend.

Why are you asking?
