If the whole climate change thing gets worse(and the anthropocene seems likely even worse), it sounds like a good idea to start growing one's own food form now on, even if one lives in a flat like I do. I am looking at a mealworm factory and fruit/veg factory as well as other possibilities -hmm, can one raise rodents in a flat?

I can bet on money that there will be a new tax or license for that.
Mealworms are pretty easy to raise as are crickets in a plastic container.
Rodents will probably give your home a stench, but as far as I know there is no law against hunting for, say, squirrels.

The economic matrix of the United states is far removed from the "Bear" necessities of life, its ridiculous. There is plenty of wealth that could be directed towards more optimal nutrition, but instead of using our empires wealth to truly give the good life to the common people, vast sums of wealth are being squandered in superficial and idiocratic fashions.

Health care has become a racket which swallows about one fifth of the nation's wealth, while almost none of the money is being utilized for ensuring the proper nutritional and environmental conditions which are known to be the most important factors in establishing and maintaining good health.

The military industrial complex has stollen half of our economic and scientific power and is using it to maintain a system of feudalism to police the second world and prevent other nations from becoming independently wealthy.

Then american vanity takes an other huge chunk of our wealth and spends ludicrous amounts of money on frivolous entertainments.....Hollywood, organized sports, and various other incarnations of bread and circuses.

The amount of wasted wealth boggles the mind!

The army core of engineers could turn our entire midwestern wilderness into sustainable grazing pasture for supper herds of free ranging ruminants, and recreate the conditions where the millions of buffalo once roamed. Harvesting vastly greater amounts of meat from the vacant frontier lands and selling it at a fair market price is totally within the scope of what is reasonable....if only the government would stop stupidly subsidising soy, corn, chemotherapy, and military excesses, and put a fraction of that money toward the management of large scale free ranging meat production operations.
