Title: PALEOLAND
Post by: rawlion on June 11, 2008, 10:50:45 pm
Hi All.

I know you may be happy in your contries, but there may be the case, like in my situation, when good quality wild/grassfed meats are unavailable. It's a shame and something must be done to correct it.

I was just thinking how about to create the State. I mean, our own Paleolithic State! Then we will arrange everything properly, for better life and prominent health! ;)

As international lawyer by profession I must warn there do exist some criteria for statehood.

The accepted criteria for statehood is that the entity has to demonstrate that it has ‘(a) a permanent population; (b) defined territory; (c) a government; and (d) capacity to enter into relations with other states’.
Let us take these in turn.
A permanent population. The population does not have to be homogeneous racially, ethnically, tribally, religiously, linguistically or otherwise. But it must be a settled population, though the presence of certain inhabitants who are traditionally nomadic does not matter.
Territory. Size does not matter either. At one time it was thought that countries with a small territory or population (‘mini- or micro-states’) were not eligible for UN membership. But since 1990, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Nauru, San Marino and Tuvalu have joined the United Nations. Although they include some wealthy countries, some are very poor. Nor do the land or maritime boundaries have to be defined definitively.
Government. There must be a central government operating as a political body within the law of the land and in effective control of the territory. But once a state has been established, military occupation by another state or civil war will not affect that statehood.
Independence in external relations. The government must be sovereign and independent, so that within its territory it is not subject to the authority of another state. The corollary is that the state thus has full capacity to enter into relations with other states. The constituent states of a federation, or the overseas territories of a state, are not sovereign and do not have international legal personality. The full title of Switzerland is the Swiss Confederation, but its constitution is that of a federation.
But to become a sovereign state in practice requires recognition by other states.

It seems to be very simple, isn't it?

Your ideas!

Yuri

Hmmmm, I think it's time to break new ground.  The difficult part is the physical territory.  I think we can make a case for a "virtual" territory.   You'd think that if the US and United Nations can redefine war such that war can be declared against a group of people who have no specific state or territory (like our current engagement) then we should be able to create a new nation the same way.

Another possibility, In today's world of instantaneous communications we are all linked via the internet.  Maybe all we have to do is purchase a couple of square feet to set our Internet Server on since this is the common element that joins and defines us. We could pay for the 2 sq ft of property by subdividing it into 1mm square parcels that each member or family of our population owns or rents.  After all we don't want to be street urchins pushing shopping carts filled with our virtual belongings along the virtual communications streets and highways.

By the very nature of the rules and bylaws of the forum, the forum owner, and moderators we have a form of government. Our population is composed of all the forum members (with strict "immigration" rules to join)  If we join the United Nations we'd have immediate relationships with many countries and states.

Seems simple to me....

this is an awesome topic to me.

but like Lex said, im not sure how we could get the physical land for our State. could we just purchase an area that already resides in a country and start our own independent state?

Probably not possible as you would be purchasing land based on the restrictions of land ownership as defined by the country within which it resides.  You would be subject to their taxes and laws and it would be difficult to secede.  The only way would be through a treaty like the Native Americans got where the government "gave" them "worthless" land but they had the right to create their own laws apart from US laws on their Reservations.

This is a two edge sword.  On the Native American side, the government may find that it made a poor bargain when rich mineral deposits are discovered on what was thought to be waste land.  Oklahoma and oil is a good example of this.

On the other side of the coin the Indians found that they could put casinos on their reservations in states where casinos are prohibited by state law as the state has no jurisdiction over the reservation.  Unfortunately, the Indians found out that they were dependent on water, food, sewage disposal, roads, and other infrastructure which could not be produced on the reservation and so they had to strike deals with the state governments to keep operating their casinos.

The best you could hope for is to purchase an island that is in international waters and then you'd still have to import everything.

I'd like a paleo land to live in.  :) Sick of the society I dwell in currently.  :(

In my fantasy paleo land,

- it would have the best fruits and nuts from all the continents
- it would have the best wild freshwater and ocean wild fish from all the continents
- it would have the best wild land animals from all the continents

When we are hungry,
- we pick the fruits and nuts fresh and eat it on the spot
- we spear fish and eat it on the spot
- we have a halal method of killing the land animal and eat it immediately with the whole family

no one will like cooking because it really is a crime to cook top quality paleo food.

No one is allowed to cook any of my premium fertilized chicken eggs, they are too good to be cooked!

We all live to be strong and fit up to 150 years old.

Is there a  way we could actually do this? I plan to move to a nudist colony or at least a place that allows public nudity when I finish high school. But I much rather be living in "paleo land". Just imagine, a place where your not judged....Ahhhh :)

It’s funny that you mention a “Paleoland”.  I really into survivalism as well as RAF.  I was thinking of the same thing that you all speak of here but on the more technical side of things.  I’ll repost the information here.  Hopefully we can brainstorm together and figure this out.  Here goes:

Quote
A rich man wants to set up his own civilization/society and he goes to a college to recruit students with knowledge in different essential areas. In order to successfully create a modern society of his own, students with what majors would need to be taken to his secluded place to achieve his goal?

here are some majors I think are needed:

- basic survival skills i.e. making a fire without matches, finding water, etc. -> I’m not sure what major would know how to do these extremely critical skills that primitive societies knew very well
- to grow plants/take care of animals -> I’m not sure what major would know how to do this… agriculture major maybe
- to find different types of metals/precious stones (mining) -> geological engineering
- to change metals shape etc. -> metallurgy/metalworking
- to build things like cars, aircraft, boats, appliances, camera/camcorder, guns, simple/complex tools -> mechanical engineering
- to make explosives, gas, harnessing energy or to make his car or plane run off water -> chemical engineering
-to create electricity, computers, electrical circuits, phones -> electrical engineering
- to understand what plants are used for what ailments/diseases, repel insects, dangerous -> botany
- to understand insects (which ones are edible/nonedible, dangers, etc.) -> entomology
-to understand fish (which ones are edible/nonedible, dangers, etc.) -> I’m not sure what major would know this
-to deal with wood, trees -> forestry
-to treat major/minor injuries (maybe from a lion, sting ray, snake, spider attack) -> med student
- make, understand glass -> I’m not sure what major would know this

I’m probably missing things so pls. post your thoughts or correct my if something is incorrect. Thanks!

I often wonder if there are actually people out there who know how to do all that I’m listing here and more. I actually want to learn ALL of this.

You see I don't feel that technology is a bad thing and that we should avoid it. I think the problem is that we don't have the foundational knowledge for any of the technological gadgets that we are addicted to and can't live without.
"There are powerful forces on Earth obscuring the foundations of knowledge."
We all should be able to make a gun from scratch. Literally, if were put in the jungle naked we should be able to get the metal, wood, etc. and make weapons out of it. Not only that but everything from cars, computers to phones, homes etc. I mean "true survivalism".

Maybe WE can build our own society.

Where do you plan on going?  Here, in the Hawaiian islands on the Big Island, there are nudist RAF places you check out.  Also, I am going to Cap D'age and Euronat in France in May 2009. (I'll be there until after the 4th of July)  You should check these out if you're serious.

That was a reference to Pangaia, I suppose. It's got its own website.

i want this to happen. however, i will say that it would be pretty damn near impossible to get statehood. i think it's a much more feasible and flexible idea to just make a raw paleo community. if someone on here already has some land, that could be arranged pretty easily.

for example, my parents own some river-front land in the texas hill country (14 acres). i would think a group of 4-6 people could live out there cooperatively with the abundant deer running around. also, we could fence off part of it for goats (i've been looking into this recently) which could provide more food. plus, if we ever ran out of our own meat supplies we could always buy (or labor for) an animal from the numerous ranches nearby. prickly pears and pecans grow out there too so we'd have seasonal fruits and nuts...
