Title: What am I missing?
Post by: Yume on February 06, 2010, 04:00:14 am
I've now gotten to the point in eating mostly raw foods that now pretty much anything cooked hurts my stomach really bad, especially grains. I would love to just eat raw but I feel like i'm missing something here. I've been eating just raw grass-fed muscle meat, at the moment I could only get ground beef. I'm also eating marrow from the same farm. I end up eating just this and more fruit and nuts. I keep getting hungry though and feel like i'm missing some source of fat, since i've been craving butter and cheese. From what i've read on the forum you want mostly fat and some organs and muscle meat, but the only fat I have is the marrow. I've noticed that i've started losing weight and i'm hoping that it's not because i'm not just eating enough. Anyone have any suggestions?

There's organs.
There's lots and lots of different kinds of sea food.
There are veggies if you like em.
There are organic fruit if you like em.
honey in small amounts if you like em.

Aajonus says there are people who can't keep their weight up so they need some starch.

I discovered I needed more meat.  1/2 kilo + a day.

Vary the ratios of carb, protein and fat and see where you are comfy.

Go to market and discover, taste, try, have fun, experiment.

Thanks, that really helps. I think i'm just not eating nearly enough meat, i'll try that and see how it goes. One last question, is there anything wrong with eating ground beef raw? I seem to remember reading somewhere that ground beef touches more metal than a cut of meat and has more of a chance of being contaminated. Is there any truth to this or can I eat it without worrying? I'm still new to raw meat and I have to continually remind my logical mind that i'm not going to die from it.

Personally, I don't like nor grind my meat.  I don't think it's natural nor appetizing.  I like it when the beef is exposed in the air in the ref a couple of days.
With beef, I cut it up in cubes or use scissors.
With fish, it's sashimi cuts and use chopsticks for style.

some people are into ground meat, maybe they will chime in.

Some people with digestive issues can at first not handle ground raw meats so it's best for them to get non-ground alternatives.

I love raw ground meat.  It's the easiest lunch ever.  Throw about 1/3 pound of it in a container, and take some fat too, like avocado or fish eggs.  Boom!  Lunch!  Cleanup is easy, too.
