Title: Why are raw vegans always so angry and ready to defend themselves?
Post by: kurite on April 07, 2010, 03:24:34 pm
Hi,
I use to be a raw vegan and do still read some of the posts on the raw vegan forums for laughs. But every single post had somebody freaking out and just getting really angry for no reason. Is this becuase of a nutrient defficiency or something?

Also been raw-vegan for health reasons (You need to start somewhere  :) ), but it's pretty hard to be  a raw-vegan if it's not working and you really belief in the vegan life-style. You need to eat animal products and you can't because of the vegan-life style.

Also all the health problems, endless detoxing, electrical current radiation they try to find the most fantastic things to explain there heath problems as long as it is not related to the vegan eating.

But it's human to make things complicated I think :)

My brother and I always attribute it to a lack of cholesterol :)

I think it's because veganism is purely ideological. They don't start from the point "what is most healthy?" They start from the idea that it's immoral to eat animal food. On the contrary, people come to raw paleo because they've tried everything else, and they're just looking for health. Therefore, they have a much healthier attitude.

I didn't feel well eating semi cooked semi paleo.  I didn't know to change though.  This world convince me that cooked meat was the only way etc.  Then when I learned about how humans most often treat farm animals, I changed right there, that woke me up and there was no going back.

As far as RAF, correct there too.  I would never have considered it if it didn't make so much scientific sense and if it wasn't the healthiest thing.  There was too much illness in my life, and RAF was so very needed.  I wish it was easier to find the information too.  It's a battle to start.  Everyone around against it.

Until maybe two years ago I had no idea that something such as raw paleo even exists. About six years ago I thought alternative diets were all about whole grains and vegetarianism. I had no idea there were people who did not eat grains. Without the internet I guess I would never have found out that there is more than that.

I think you will feel hunger even after you'll fill your stomach to fullness when you eat just plants. and as everyone knows hungry man is a angry man.  :D

When I was a vegan for around two years (my stores of vitamins didn't last very long), I was always a very angry, emotional person and I got angry over the smallest things. Looking back on it, I now realize that I was incredibly deficient in B vitamins. I even had clumps of hair falling out, cheilitis, and patches of melanin-lacking skin.

Eventually it all progressed to the point of me having to be hospitalized. By that point I was having hallucinations, delusions, and shooting pains stretching from my hips to feet and shoulder to arms (a hallmark of B-vitamin deficiency). I was also severely anemic.

When I talk to another vegan, I find them getting very angry about many things, whether or not they're important or not. I always just write it off as B-vitamin deficiency, or some other vitamin they may be lacking.

    What's cheilitis?

I had clumps of hair clogging my shower every day and white spots developing on my skin too.  I also had shooting pains.

    To each his own.

Cheilitis, or angular cheilitis, is where the corners of your mouth become chapped and bleed. It's usually a sign of B vitamin deficiency.

Oh I got that mildly for a little while during my vegan time.  I have never had it when I wasn't vegan.  I see a lot of people post they have it on rawconnection.  I thought it was a sign they were developing diabetes.

I got cheilitis often when I was a child, and I was eating meat every day :(

As a child, after deep black thick smoke inhalation and a mouth full of mercury, the middle of my lip would crack vertically dead center and bleed, among a host of other symptoms during the same time.  I ate meat (cooked meat) every day during that time.  Also I was eating raw un-doctored cabbage almost every day at the same time.

Children can get cheilitis, even if they're not B vitamin deficient. It usually happens when their lips get really chapped or they get bad windburn, or when they wont stop licking their lips. So its not always a sign of B vitamin deficiency, Gep. =]

I was walking to school in the cold.

I didn't eat a lot of grains and wasn't really forced to eat grains.

I think depending on things like white flours can bring about cold sores and cheilitis on the lips.

More than likely. It really wouldn't surprise me if grains made people more prone to Cheilitis. =/
