Title: High Egg Info Anyone?
Post by: Aniruddha on August 08, 2010, 05:33:08 am
Greetings All,

I was wondering if anyone had any information regarding eating aged raw eggs.  I have some that have been sitting out for about 4 months.  The temperature has ranged from 70 to 90 degrees F. I have been eating one at a time roughly once a week.  There is a strong smokiness to the flavor, and it definitely makes my intestines grumble.  I am sure there is a large bacterial count causing some cleansing of the intestinal tract.

I really would just love to hear some of your experiences about eating eggs in this way, benefits etc.

Anything anyone has to offer would be great.  Thanks.

I don't know of any RVAFers who've done much in the way of eating raw, aged eggs. I certainly found them too gross to even try in the long-term. However, century eggs(which are a type of raw aged eggs(sometimes unfortunately aged and cooked) are commonly eaten by many Asians. Perhaps GS has gone in for them by now?

I've eaten lots of the aged eggs. Some of them were up to 8 months old.
I fiind them more toothsome, easier to digest than fresh ones.
I love them.  :)

Someone said to me that aajonus says to poke a pinhole in the egg, then lie it on the window sill for 50 days, then eat it.  This person wasn't a primal dieter who told me.

I've eaten old eggs.  At first there were some smelly ones I couldn't dare touch.  Since I've eaten older eggs without incident.  Another time I had eggs several months, and threw them in the compost.  They smelled.  About two days in compost and the egg smell was completely gone.

I can't gather up the courage to eat them when they stink. Into the garden they go. Cats seem to like them in the garden.

Century eggs that are sold at Asian supermarkets are made using an accelerated technique so they're old (I'm guessing weeks) but not truly aged. I've eaten plenty and never noticed any benefit. They taste pretty good though  ;D

The ingredients I saw for century eggs often imply that the century eggs are pre-cooked before being aged. No wonder they're not healthy.
